5. GHLC Sponsorship: New Life and Other Ministries

Spring is coming.......so summer is sure to follow! Our New Life ladies and other church ministries have seven children that would love to go to Green Hill Lake Camp this summer. The cost to send seven children to camp is approximately $5,000.00. If you would like to help make this happen, please mark your envelope, or if you give in another way, please identify your gift with GHLC Camper or Sponsorship.

Thank you for considering supporting this opportunity for children to attend camp "where Christ is made known".

6. GHLC Health Centre Donations Needed

We're in full swing organizing our health and safety supplies as we gear up for an exciting season ahead. With school groups arriving soon for their adventure-filled days and summer camps just around the corner, we're making sure everything is in place to keep everyone safe and well-prepared.

You'll find fully stocked first aid kits at key activity centers across the campsite, workplace-level kits in the maintenance shop and kitchen, and mini kits in each cabin. For our off-site adventures—like canoe and bicycle camps—we’ve packed larger first aid packs to ensure we're ready for anything.

Nurse Nancy and Boo Boo (aka Carol Reimer) have placed a tote in the Connection Center for anyone wishing to donate supplies for the Health Center.

For First Aid, we are looking for the following:

Band-aids of all sizes and types, tick removal kits, small freezies (for tasty ice packs), medical tape, gauze pads 2x2 and 4x4, gauze rolls, large absorbent dressings, antiseptic wound spray, Moleskin bandages for blisters, sunscreen.

We often have campers arrive without personal hygiene items and like to have a stock of the following:

Travel size shampoo & body wash, facecloths, deodorant, combs, brushes, feminine hygiene items

The most important thing we want this summer though is your prayers for the health and safety of everyone who comes to Green Hill Lake Camp.

7. WMS Monthly Meeting: May 12

Join us for our next WMS Meeting on Monday, May 12, at 1:30 PM in the Third Floor Assembly Area of the Family Life Centre.

11. Morning Gate Church and the Bridge Church: Going Deeper with God

Join us for 25 Days of Going Deeper with God!

From April 28 to May 30, 2025, we invite you to embark on a daily journey of reflection, prayer, and worship.

Each weekday, you’ll receive a short scripture reflection, a prayer, and a worship song to help you draw closer to God.

Our reflections are based on Psalm 25:1–5, with each week focusing on a key spiritual theme:

• Week 1 – Surrender: Lifting our lives fully to God

• Week 2 – Trust: Placing our confidence in Him

• Week 3 – Confidence: Standing firm in His promises

• Week 4 – Milestones: Seeking God’s direction in our journey

• Week 5 – The Word: Learning, following, and obeying His truth

Everything you need to participate — daily devotionals, worship links, and prayer guides — is available through the link below:

12. Oasis: August 7 to 9

Oasis is the annual gathering of the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada (CBAC), a family of churches spread all over Atlantic Canada. CBAC churches send pastors and delegates to Oasis. Each August, we gather to deepen relationships, build community, learn tools for thriving in ministry, worship together, make decisions around budgets, and vision for the future. OASIS is also a time to celebrate God’s faithfulness and our shared mission.

Our theme this year is “Hope upon Hope”. It is our prayer and hope that you leave OASIS “overflowing with hope”, filled with inspiration, new friendships, and joy leading into the fall season. Join us for the 179th Annual gathering this August. OASIS will take place August 7-9, 2025, on the Acadia University campus in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.

To be a delegate for BSBC, you must be a member of BSBC. Based on our membership, we can send 10 delegates. If you are not a member, you can start the process for membership or you can attend OASIS as a guest. Guests can participate in everything but cannot vote on business. Are you interested in being one of our delegates to OASIS? We are able to provide a stipend of $200 to cover your registration and help with expenses. If you would like to become a member or if you are able to attend, please contact Naomi in the church office (naomi.phillips@bsbc.nb.ca) and she will complete your registration.

13. BSBC Summer Student Position

We have been awarded a grant through Employment and Social Development Canada for a Children/Youth Community Worker position which will allow us to hire a summer student to work in our Next Generation (children/youth) ministry for 12 weeks this summer, for 35 hours a week, at $17.50 an hour. This position will start at the end of May and continue through to August. The application deadline is Sunday, May 11. Interviews will be conducted the week of May 12, 2025.

This person will be working alongside Pastor Nikki, Next Generation Pastor, and Sam Essel, Children’s Ministry Coordinator, for the summer months. They will be involved in various programs and leading our young people within the congregation and the larger community.

Please make this summer job known to anyone you believe might be interested. If you or someone you know might be a good fit for this position, please email your resume with a cover letter explaining why you are interested in this position to Pastor Nikki at nikki@bsbc.nb.ca. For more information, please click the link below or contact the church office at 506-458-8348 or bsbc@bsbc.nb.ca.

18. Adult Bible Studies

There is so much going on at our Church that sometimes it is hard to keep track! To help ease your calendar preparation, here is a brief list of programs and events that we have on offer:

19. This Sunday’s Worship Gatherings: May 11

In the Sanctuary, the worship team will be led by David Steeves with special music from the Eden, Tempe and Victoria as well as Kate Howey on cello, and Susan Howey on flute. In the Gym, the worship team will be led by Illyana Vermeersch.

Pastor Ross will be in the gym. Pastor Ross will be sharing the third sermon in his series on the book of Jonah.

Dr. Keith will be in the sanctuary. Of his sermon titled “Good News in the Lord’s Prayer” he says, “Some of our members here at TheStreet might remember when the Lord’s Prayer was recited in school classrooms at the start of each day! Times have changed, and that is no longer the case (in the public system at least), but nonetheless the words of this prayer are familiar to many. Still, it is easy to forget that this teaching about prayer is found in the Sermon on the Mount and is part of a larger theological vision shared by the Lord Jesus. Rather than just repeating the words this morning, we will explore the wider message of the Lord’s Prayer, that suggests the good news of the gospel can be heard clearly in these words spoken in Matthew 6.”

Whether in-person or online, be sure to join us this Sunday morning at 10:30 am.

20. Pastoral Care

Your Deacons want to affirm that BSBC is equipped to provide Pastoral Care. We are grateful for the engagement of Rev. Ross and Pastor Nikki, and we are blessed to have additional support from Rev.
