SUMMER STUDENT POSITION

12 Weeks – Summer 2025

POSITION OUTLINE

The Children/Youth Community Worker Summer Student will support, foster, and grow the Next Generation in the community in and around Brunswick Street Baptist Church. The ideal candidate would have excellent problem-solving skills, initiative, creativity, dependability and teachability.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Next Generation Pastor and Children’s Ministry Coordinator with Half-Day Summer Camp including planning, participation and follow up after the program is finished

  • Plan, participate, and follow up for local missions’ week

  • Assist in leading weekly programming for Next Generation

  • Develop programing for summer Next Generation events

  • Develop programing for fall Next Generation ministries

  • Use of Social Media for promotion of events and contacting individuals

  • Recruit volunteers for Half-Day Summer Camp

  • Participate in KidzTown on Sunday mornings

  • Create connection point to the Next Generation in the community (i.e. Park ministry)

  • Basic AV/IT skills required

  • Problem Solving skills required

  • Administrative skills required

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITY

The Children/Youth Community Worker Summer Student is responsible to the Brunswick Street Baptist Church Board of Deacons through the Education Committee with direct responsibility to the Next Generation Pastor.

POSITION ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

This summer job is part of a federal grant program. Requirements for applying for this summer job include must be a resident of New Brunswick; eligible to work in Canada; a student in current academic year; between the ages of 15 -30 years; willing to participate in eco-sustainability; and attending full-time post secondary education in the fall of 2025.

REMUNERATION

The Children/Youth Community Worker Summer Student position is an 12-week position. Start date is negotiable, with a preferred start date the week of May 20, 2025. Remuneration for this position is $17.50 per hour for 35 hours per week. There are no other benefits associated with this position. Termination of the contract by either party requires 30 days written notice.
