1. Call for Fall Programming
What a great summer! Another few short weeks and Fall will be here. We are looking ahead to the September calendar and are thinking about booking rooms and resources for Bible Studies, Prayer Groups, Community Potlucks, Exercise Groups, meetings and other gatherings.
If you are looking to reserve space for your Bible Study, Small Group, or meeting at BSBC this Fall, please click the link below. Please provide us with the name of your group, a syllabus for your small group or Bible Study, your preferred day, time, location, and start date. The syllabus should include the number of weeks in duration with the title for each week’s session with a short overview and scriptures for each class. You may also email sam.essel@bsbc.nb.ca with the name of your group, a brief explanation of the content, your preferred day, time, location and start date.
For continuing programs, rooms will be reserved on a first requested, first booked basis. All new programs will go through the approval process. Next week, Aug 20, we will be publishing the list of programs along with the 2025 Fall Letter from the Pastor’s Office. To have your programming included, please submit your information by Monday, Aug 18.
2. Celebrating 10 Years of Chinese Ministry at BSBC
This month marks a joyful milestone 10 years since the establishment of our Chinese congregation! Our very first worship service was held on August 30, 2015, and we are so grateful for God’s faithfulness over the past decade.
To celebrate, we’re hosting a special 10th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, August 23, and everyone is invited to join us in giving thanks and rejoicing together!
Date: Saturday, August 23
Celebration Service: 2:00 to 4:00 pm
Potluck Dinner: 5:00 pm in the Gym
We’ve also invited friends and former members from near and far who have been part of our journey. Let’s come together to honor the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to what God has in store for the future!
Please contact Pastor Changbin if you have any questions or want to help out.
We hope to see you there!

If you are willing to serve in this way, please place your name on the sign-up sheet posted in the main kitchen. If you prefer, you can call the church office, 506-458-8348, or email Sam at sam.essel@bsbc.nb.ca with your availability.
5. Youth Group Supper Volunteers Needed!
Do you love to cook? Are you looking for a fun and meaningful way to serve? Come be part of our Youth Group Supper Team and help bless our teens with a warm meal and friendly connection!
We’re looking for volunteers to help prepare simple and delicious meals once a month on Thursday evenings at 5:00 pm starting September 11. All meal costs are covered — we just need your heart for hospitality and your hands in the kitchen.
If you or someone you know might be a good fit, contact Pastor Nikki (nikki@bsbc.nb.ca) — she’d love to connect with you and share more about this opportunity to serve.
Let’s nourish our youth — body and soul!
6. BSBC Volunteer Coordinator for the Fredericton Community Kitchen
Since 1998, volunteers from BSBC have faithfully served at the Fredericton Community Kitchen once a month, helping to provide meals and support to those in need. Each month, four volunteers from BSBC assist at the Kitchen on the second Monday of each month from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
For the past 19 years, Dale Bray has coordinated this vital outreach on behalf of our church, reporting through the Social Action Team. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dale for his long-standing commitment and faithful service in this role.
As of August 14, 2025, Ian Howey will bet taking taken over the role of the BSBC Volunteer Coordinator. Ian may be reaching out to members and adherents to invite them to serve at the Kitchen from time to time. If you’re interested in volunteering, you are warmly encouraged to contact Ian directly at 506-476-6505 or ian.howey@nbpcd.com.
A sincere thank you to all who have volunteered over the past 19 years and especially to Dale Bray for his service. Many have found the volunteering experience both meaningful and rewarding and we pray this continues to develop under Ian Howey’s leadership.
7. BSBC is Hiring: Behaviour Mentor
We are hiring! Disha, our Behavior Mentor, will be leaving at the end of August and we wish her success in her new adventure!
We are looking for a caring, patient, and reliable Behaviour Mentor to support children who need extra help in our Elementary KidzTown ministry. This meaningful and ongoing role involves providing one-on-one support to children during Sunday services, attending team meetings, building relationships with families, assisting at special events, and submitting bi-weekly report of hours to the Bookkeeper and the NextGen Pastor.
POSITION OUTLINE

Provide one-on-one (with supervision) support to children who need special assistance for a variety of different reasons
Be present on Sunday mornings to engage with children and parents as directed by the Elementary Coordinator
Assist with non-Sunday elementary events as able that require special assistance to those who have autism, behavioral issues, and/or just require more specialized attention

HOW TO APPLY
To apply for this position, please email your resume, along with a cover letter explaining why you are interested in working at BSBC and how you are the perfect candidate for the position of Behaviour Mentor, to Pastor Nikki at nikki@bsbc.nb.ca.
The application deadline is 4:00 pm on Wednesday, August 20. Interviews will be conducted the following week. Only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. Thank you for application.
8. Muffin Ministry: Sept 7
On behalf of our brothers and sisters who make a weekly evening trek around the city to visit those sleeping rough, and the members of your Social Action Team, thank you ‘muffin makers’ for your faithfulness serving in this way. Your sweet generosity is more than just baked goods; it’s an expression of care and hope in Jesus’ name.
Our Street Ministry team need muffins as soon as Sept 7 for our Sunday night outreach program. As we prepare for the busy summer months, we aim to have 4 dozen muffins each week to ensure we’re well-stocked and ready to bless those we serve. If you are able to help in this way, please place 12 muffins, individually wrapped, in a large zipper locked bag, and label the bag “Street Ministry”. Don’t forget to include your name and the delivery date for which you signed up. You can place the labeled muffins in the upright freezer in the main kitchen.
Please click the link below or call the church office (506-458-8348) and our admin team will be pleased to do the online registration for you. Jesus spoke of offering cups of cold water in his name. Muffins, we believe, offer the same opportunity to bless others for Him.

12. Adult Bible Studies
There is so much going on at our Church that sometimes it is hard to keep track! To help ease your calendar preparation, here is a brief list of programs and events that we have on offer:
13. This Sunday’s Worship Gatherings: August 17
In the Sanctuary, the worship team will be led by David Steeves and Gloria Tranquilla. In the gym, the worship team will be led by Illyana Vermeersch.
Dr. Keith Bodner and Pastor Nikki Kincaid will be providing a sermon interview in both the sanctuary and the gym. Pastor Ross and family will be enjoying a well-deserved vacation.
Of the sermon titled “Renewing Our Minds”, Dr. Keith Bodner writes “In past year’s at TheStreet one of the highlights of August has been a “Summer Fireside Sermon Interview” with one of our people, and this year is no exception. As an extra special bonus, this year’s guest is none other that our very own Pastor Nikki Leftley Kincaid! We are delighted for the opportunity to speak with Pastor Nikki about some crucial texts in the book of Romans, including Paul’s encouragement at the beginning of chapter 12: “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Please plan to hear some wise and challenging words as mid-August is upon us, and Pastor Nikki will include a short and practical outline for implementing these words of the apostle in our present age of distraction.”
Whether in-person or online, be sure to join us this Sunday morning at 10:30 am.
