1. Sweet Support: Greener Village Sugar Donation
Have you heard about the Greener Village bread-making program?
Keith Ross delivered an astounding donation of 2,200 lbs of white sugar—enough to fill the entire bed of his pickup truck!
This generous gift will go a long way: it will be used in their Learning Kitchen for Bread Mondays, where volunteers help produce over 300 loaves of bread for clients each week. It will also support essential cooking skills classes, helping students and clients gain independence. Plus, volunteers in the warehouse will portion sugar into client grocery boxes, ensuring key pantry items are stocked.
We know not everyone can donate 2,200 lbs of sugar! But if Keith’s efforts have inspired you, consider picking up sugar during sales or making a $40 donation—which covers the cost to produce 52 loaves of fresh bread:
Thank you, Keith, for making such a sweet impact on our community!
2. SAT Support Welcome Baskets for Project Zero Pods
"A Twelve Neighbours community member on the committee for Project Zero, Marcel LeBrun's pod project for unhoused people in Saint John, is assembling welcome baskets for those who will occupy the pods. She has provided the following list of items that we can contribute. If you feel that you would like to encourage those involved in this way, please deliver the items to Janet or Naomi by Wednesday, July 16. Thank you so much!”
List of Requested Items:
Deodorant (men's and women's)
Toothpaste and toothbrush
Bar Soap and Body Wash
Shampoo and Conditioner
Hand Soap
Feminine Hygiene Products
Sunscreen
Combs and Brushes
Kleenex/Facial Tissue
Reusable Water Bottles
Twin Sheet Sets and Pillowcases
Twin Blankets
Pillows
Magnetic Curtain Rods
Socks
Hand Towels, Bath Towels, and Face Cloths
Underwear (men's and women's)
Journals or notebooks
Pencils or pens
Crosswords or Word Searches
Slippers
If you feel led to support this effort, please drop off your donations at the Church Office by Wednesday, July 16. Thank you for helping to extend care and dignity to those beginning a new chapter!
3. BSBC Parking Lot Partial Closure: June 23 to 27
Dear Church Family,
Please mark your calendars! During our half day summer camp, a small portion of our parking lot will be blocked off so that our campers and leaders may use some of the outdoor space during camp. From June 23 to 27 from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon, there will be no drive through traffic and a small portion of the George Street parking lot will be roped off to protect our campers and leaders.
Please be praying for all the children who will be attending the camp and that they experience the love of Jesus.
4. Food Safety Training: June 25
We’re excited to share that BSBC is hosting a special food safety seminar, and we’d love for you to be part of it! Whether you help with food prep, serving, or cleanup in any of our kitchens, this session is for you.
Join us in the Family Room on Wednesday, June 25 at 10:00 am for a two-hour talk titled “The ABC’s of Food Safety,” led by Erin Lamey, Public Health Inspector. This engaging seminar offers essential, practical guidance on safe food handling practices—helping us care well for those we serve.
We especially encourage anyone involved in food service at BSBC to attend if possible. For those who can't attend, please let us know and we’ll have extra booklets available.
To help us plan, please RSVP to Kellie Brown (ssduluth@nbnet.nb.ca) or Andrea Bragdon (andreabragdon@rogers.com). We’re looking forward to a great morning together!
5. Upcoming Summer Ashrams
Don’t miss the opportunity to attend a Christian Ashram! An Ashram is a time for learning, prayer, reflection, fellowship, and rest, focused on deepening one’s relationship with Jesus Christ and cultivating spiritual growth. Come alone or with your family!
Nova Scotia Christian Ashram: July 10-15
New Brunswick Christian Ashram: August 7-10
For more information, please contact Don & Pat Burdon at (506) 471-6051 or Doug & Doris Ashfield at (506) 472-7519.
6. Green Hill Lake Camp
GHLC Share a Wage
Green Hill Lake Camp’s summer program runs with a team of 60 staff, many of whom are students offsetting high education costs. Our Share-A-Wage program helps make it possible for these young people to serve by providing financial support through friends, family, and church communities.
In 2025, our goal is to raise $40,000 to help cover summer employment needs. Gifts are used at the discretion of the GHLC Board to support the ministry and its dedicated staff.
Your gift helps make the summer camp experience accessible and gospel centered. Thank you for considering how you might support our summer staff through Share-A-Wage.
Click the link below to read a letter from our very own Miles Culberson, who is working as a GHLC Leader this summer!
GHLC Sponsorship: New Life and Other Ministries
Summer is Here! Our New Life ladies and other church ministries have seven children that would love to go to Green Hill Lake Camp this summer. The cost to send seven children to camp is approximately $5,000.00. If you would like to help, make this happen, please mark your envelope, or if you give in another way, please identify your gift with GHLC Camper or Sponsorship.
So far, we have received $2,570.00 for GHLC sponsorships – over halfway to our goal!
Thank you for considering supporting this opportunity for children to attend camp "where Christ is made known".
GHLC Health Center Donations Needed
Nurse Nancy and Boo Boo (aka Carol Reimer) have placed a tote in the Connection Centre for anyone wishing to donate supplies for the Health Centre.
For First Aid, we are looking for the following:
Band-aids of all sizes and types, tick removal kits, small freezies (for tasty ice packs), medical tape, gauze pads 2x2 and 4x4, gauze rolls, large absorbent dressings, antiseptic wound spray, Moleskin bandages for blisters, sunscreen.
We often have campers arrive without personal hygiene items and like to have a stock of the following:
Travel size shampoo and body wash, facecloths, deodorant, combs, brushes, feminine hygiene items.
The most important thing we want this summer though is your prayers for the health and safety of everyone who comes to Green Hill Lake Camp.
7. Muffin Ministry
On behalf of our brothers and sisters who make a weekly evening trek around the city to visit those sleeping rough, and the members of your Social Action Team, thank you ‘muffin makers’ for your faithfulness serving in this way. Your sweet generosity is more than just baked goods; it’s a tangible expression of care and hope in Jesus’ name.
Our Street Ministry team need muffins as soon as July 20 for our Sunday night outreach program. As we prepare for the busy summer months, we’re now aiming to have 4 dozen muffins each week to ensure we’re well-stocked and ready to bless those we serve. If you are able to help in this way, please place 12 muffins, individually wrapped, in a large zipper locked bag, and label the bag “Street Ministry”. Don’t forget to include your name and the delivery date for which you signed up. You can place the labeled muffins in the upright freezer in the main kitchen.
Please click the link below or call the church office (506-458-8348) and our admin team will be pleased to do the online registration for you. Jesus spoke of offering cups of cold water in his name. Muffins, we believe, offer the same opportunity to bless others for Him.
8. Volunteer Opportunities

9. Oasis: August 7 to 9
Oasis is the annual gathering of the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada (CBAC), a family of churches spread all over Atlantic Canada. CBAC churches send pastors and delegates to Oasis. Each August, we gather to deepen relationships, build community, learn tools for thriving in ministry, worship together, make decisions around budgets, and vision for the future. OASIS is also a time to celebrate God’s faithfulness and our shared mission.
Our theme this year is “Hope upon Hope”. It is our prayer and hope that you leave OASIS “overflowing with hope”, filled with inspiration, new friendships, and joy leading into the fall season. Join us for the 179th Annual gathering this August. OASIS will take place August 7-9, 2025, on the Acadia University campus in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.
We currently have nine delegates registered. To be a delegate for BSBC, you must be a member of BSBC. Based on our membership, we can send 10 delegates. If you are not a member, you can start the process for membership or you can attend OASIS as a guest. Guests can participate in everything but cannot vote on business. Are you interested in being one of our delegates to OASIS? We are able to provide a stipend of $200 to cover your registration and help with expenses. If you would like to become a member or if you are able to attend, please contact Naomi in the church office (naomi.phillips@bsbc.nb.ca) and she will complete your registration.
In preparation for registration, delegates will be asked to indicate their preferred Breakout Workshops.
Our very own Rev. Ross Watters is leading one of the Oasis Rallies titled “Hope in The Church”.
10. Refugee Update
Dear BSBC family,
Your Social Action Team thanks you for your ongoing support of refugees living in desperate circumstances around the world who are looking to start new lives in Fredericton. We would like to provide you with an update on the progress of the refugee family for whom we submitted a sponsorship application in 2023.
For those who may not be familiar, this family of six is originally from Syria and is currently living as refugees in Lebanon. The family includes a father (49), a mother (38), three sons (20, 18, 4), and a daughter (15). Rachel Nesbitt, a former member of our congregation, befriended their relatives here in Fredericton, which is how we connected with them. Despite the Nesbitt family having moved from Fredericton, Rachel continues to keep in touch with the mother of the family we are sponsoring.
The refugee family in Lebanon continues to wait wearily, after many years in "limbo," hoping for progress on their file and the opportunity to start new lives here in Canada.
We are pleased to share that we have raised a total of $29,927 to support this family during their first year in Canada. Since our church voted at the Annual Business Meeting in 2022 to apply for their sponsorship, over $23,000 has been generously donated by you, our church family. While we do not yet have any updates on their paperwork, we encourage you to continue supporting our refugee fund with gifts designated "Refugee Fund", so that we will have the necessary funds available to cover the first year of living expenses for a family of six in Canada once they receive approval.
We look forward to continuing to share updates on the refugee fund and our sponsorship progress in the coming months. Hopefully, we will soon be able to request your support in furnishing this family with a new home. But for now, we fundraise and wait.
If you have any questions about this, please contact Martina Verboom at adrianandmartina@gmail.com.

There is so much going on at our Church that sometimes it is hard to keep track! To help ease your calendar preparation, here is a brief list of programs and events that we have on offer:
18. This Sunday’s Worship Gatherings: June 22
In the Sanctuary, the worship team will be led by David Steeves and Gloria Tranquilla with special music from an Ensemble. In the Gym, worship will be led by Peter & Sarah Cook.
Pastor Ross will be in the sanctuary. Pastor Ross will be sharing a sermon on Jonah Chapter 3 around the theme of Judgement.
Dr. Keith Bodner will be in the gym. Of his sermon titled “Beyond the Sea” he says, “Although some contemporary worship bands love to sing about the theme of “oceans,” for the ancient Israelites, water was a fearful thought, and the sea was generally believed to be a source of chaos and instability. So, when Jesus teaches “in a boat, on the sea” it is an illustration of how he vitiates chaos from our lives, and when he walks on water it shows how he is above our storms. In Matthew 13 there is a short and powerful parable of “the net,” where the Kingdom of God is compared to a net that is cast into the sea in order to gather fish of “every nation.” On this Sunday morning we’ll explore this story of the net and note the layers of application for growth and holiness in our lives as followers of Jesus during these rather challenging days.”
Whether in-person or online, be sure to join us this Sunday morning at 10:30 am.
19. Bereavement
Mildred Ernestine (Myers) Dunphy
1937 - 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Mildred Ernestine (Myers) Dunphy at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication, particularly to her children, and especially to her beloved daughter, Anne. Mildred will be deeply missed by her loving husband Jack, her children Anne Dunphy, Jane Rioux (David), and Nancy Esau (Darryl). She was a proud grandmother to Elizabeth, Peter, Matthew Rioux, Lincoln Esau, and great granddaughter Ella Rioux, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
A celebration of Mildred’s life will be held at a later date in August, with a day and time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Jobs Unlimited, Pine Grove Nursing Home or the Mactaquac Baptist Church.
20. Pastoral Care
Your Deacons want to affirm that BSBC is equipped to provide Pastoral Care. We are grateful for our pastors, Rev. Ross and Pastor Nikki, and we are blessed to have additional support from Rev.
