3. Name Tag November
We’re excited for Name Tag November at BSBC! This fun and meaningful tradition helps us strengthen our church community by learning (or re-learning) each other’s names and building connections.
Throughout November, we invite everyone, newcomers and long-time members alike, to wear a name tag each Sunday. When you arrive, simply stop by the entrance and ask one of our ushers or greeters for your personalized name tag.
4. BSBC Christmas Choir
A Special Christmas Choir is being formed, bringing together singers from both the Gym and Sanctuary congregations for our November 30 Combined Service: the first Sunday of Advent. This joyful choir is open to kids, teens, and adults—everyone is encouraged to join in and lift their voices in celebration!
A rehearsal will be held on Sunday, November 23 at 11:45 am to 12:15 pm in the choir room.
Come be part of something special as we prepare to celebrate the season together through music and worship!
5. Advent Crafternoon: Saturday, November 22
Join us for an unforgettable afternoon of creativity, laughter, and festive fun for all ages on Saturday, November 22 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. Whether you're a seasoned crafter or just love getting your hands messy with glitter and glue, Advent Crafternoon is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season with friends and family. Explore a wide variety of craft stations—there’s something for everyone! From simple projects for little hands to more advanced creations like our Macrame Angel or Christmas Wreath, you’ll leave with handmade treasures and warm memories. You are able to register on the day as well!
We will also supply some cookies, coffee, tea and juice. If you are able, please bring a finger-food dessert to share.
Each craft comes with a small fee to cover expenses. You can pay in cash with your registration form, at the door on November 22, or by e-transfer to giving@bsbc.nb.ca. Make sure to put “Advent Craft” in the memo line of your e-transfer.
Don’t miss this joyful celebration of creativity, community, and Christmas spirit. We can’t wait to craft with you!

You are warmly invited to join us as we celebrate a very special milestone — Roddy’s 80th birthday!
We’ll be hosting an open house celebration on Saturday, December 6 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm in the church gym, and we would love for our whole church family and friends to join us.
Come drop in, share your well-wishes, enjoy some fellowship, and help make this joyful occasion one to remember. Let’s surround Roddy with love, laughter, and gratitude as we celebrate his 80 wonderful years!
Best wishes only!
9. Service of Comfort and Hope: December 18
As the losses of the past year cast a shadow on your familiar celebrations, I understand how your feelings are different this Christmas. You have deep longings for the ones who are not by your side. This is normal. As we prepare for Christmas, my thoughts and prayers are with you and for your comfort. To assist you through this time, I invite you to the Service of Comfort and Hope, when candles will be lit in memory of loved ones who you long for. A reception time will follow. If you feel this would be helpful for you, mark this date on your calendar and register your intention to attend. This will assist us as we prepare the names for the Memorial Honour Roll.
Remember you are not alone,
Pastor Kevin Culberson

10. Starting Local Going Global Christmas Project 2025
Dear Church Family,
It’s coming up to that time of the year when we consider our ability to be a blessing to others as God blessed us with the precious gift of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. In its 24th year, our Starting Local/Going Global Christmas Project has been a means of practical blessing in the lives of people living here in Fredericton and another place of need in the world at large. I encourage you to read the following articles which will explain the projects to you and ask you to consider what you can do to bless others in Jesus’ name.
How do you give?
Mark your gift “Starting Local” to support families in our New Life Ministry and our Third Sunday Supper guests. Mark your gift “Going Global” to support vulnerable children and their families in India through Canadian Baptist Ministries. Gifts marked “SLGG” will be divided equally between the two funds.
It’s only November, but it’s not too early to consider blessing others this Christmas.
Starting Local
Our “Starting Local” campaign supports our New Life Ministry families. This ministry provides a supportive, spiritually encouraging setting where the women who come experience the love of Jesus through our leaders, teaching, prayer and sharing.
Each Christmas, we ask these women to let us know how we can support them in providing gifts and groceries for their households’ Christmas celebration. This year, we will be following the same format as last year. The Starting Local campaign will be a financial one focused on raising the funds needed to purchase gift cards as requested by our New Life Ministry participants. Gift cards empower these families to be able to shop for some extras themselves allowing them to share in the joy of gift giving. We will wrap up our campaign on the first Sunday of Advent at the combined morning service in the sanctuary on November 30th.
We make sure that each household receives sponsorship at a level equal to the approach of the Salvation Army and Greener Village. And, in addition to supporting our New Life participants, any financial gift you designate as “Starting Local” will allow us to provide a Christmas gift to our friends who attend our Third Sunday Supper ministry and some of our street level neighbours. Many are unable to connect with families and/or friends during the Christmas season. We hope this remembrance will remind them of God’s love and our love during what can be a challenging time.
Going Global
For this year’s Going Global project, we have the opportunity of blessing a CBM ministry that changes lives for vulnerable children and families in South Sudan.
“Stay tuned, please stay tuned
There is more yet to come…
Some bells and some banners…
Perhaps even a drum!”
Warm regards,
Missions Committee
Joel, Rosa, Tina, John, and Charles
11. Christmas Poinsettias
This Christmas season, we invite you to help us adorn our worship spaces by placing a poinsettia in honor or memory of someone special. Poinsettias will be arranged in the Sanctuary and in the Gym on the first Sunday of Advent, November 30, adding beauty and warmth throughout the holiday season.
Each poinsettia is $18. To order, simply pick up a “Christmas Poinsettias” envelope one of the welcome tables or in the Connections Centre and complete all required information to ensure your donation is properly designated. Please return the completed form to the church office by Monday, November 24, 2025.
We will recognize all donated plants in the Sunday Loop and the newsletter on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. For further details, please contact the church office at naomi.phillips@bsbc.nb.ca.
12. Scouting Boys Christmas Wreath and Tree Fundraiser
Scouting groups of BSBC are selling decorated balsam fir Christmas wreaths ($15) and Christmas trees ($45-$55) this year. Wreaths will be ready for sale November 29th. Christmas trees will be available from November 29th – December 11th. This is our Scouting groups’ only event to raise funds for camp equipment, outdoor activities, and community service. Order forms will be available at the church gym foyer bulletin board. Completed order forms can be left in the church mailbox of Dale Wilson. Order deadline for wreaths is Nov 30th and trees Dec. 7th. You can pay by Cash, e-transfer (6wilson@nb.sympatico.ca) or cheque (payable to 1st Fredericton BPSA) and please make payment at the time of your order.
For information or to order by phone, call: Dale or Elizabeth Wilson 506-458-1402.
Thank you for your support!
13. Green Hill Lake Camp Fundraising
In honour of Stephen Alward retiring this year, Green Hill Lake Camp has brought us “photo film” cannisters to fill and help pay off their mortgage by the end of 2025. Our Atlantic Baptist Foundation is matching these funds, and there is about 70 thousand left, or 35 with matching. Please see or contact Joel Trail at joeltrail@gmail.com or Charles Millette at charles.millette@sim.org to pick up some for your family. This limited time offer expires on Dec 10, so we have time to deliver them back. There is a code to scan on the cans if you prefer web donations.
14. A Note of Thanks from the Clark Family
Alfie Clark and family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to our church family for the outpouring of love and support following the passing of David. Your prayers, kind words, thoughtful cards, delicious meals, and warm hugs have been a great source of comfort and strength during this difficult time.
We are deeply grateful for the compassion and care shown to us — a true reflection of Christ’s love through His people. Thank you for walking alongside us with such kindness and grace.
15. Volunteering Opportunities
A. Sunday Streets Muffin Ministry: December 12
On behalf of our brothers and sisters who make a weekly evening trek around the city to visit those sleeping rough, and the members of your Social Action Team, thank you ‘muffin makers’ for your faithfulness serving in this way. Your sweet generosity is more than just baked goods; it’s an expression of care and hope in Jesus’ name.
Our Street Ministry team need muffins as soon as December 12 for our Sunday night outreach program. As we prepare for the busy winter months, we aim to have 4 dozen muffins each week to ensure we’re well-stocked and ready to bless those we serve. If you are able to help in this way, please place 12 muffins, individually wrapped, in a large zipper locked bag, and label the bag “Street Ministry”. You can place the labeled muffins in the upright freezer in the main kitchen. Don’t forget to include your name and the delivery date for which you signed up.
Please click the link below or call the church office (506-458-8348) and our admin team will be pleased to do the online registration for you. Jesus spoke of offering cups of cold water in his name. Muffins, we believe, offer the same opportunity to bless others for Him.
B. Security Volunteers Needed
Towards the fall we’re seeking dedicated volunteers to help keep our church safe and welcoming on weekday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00 pm starting in September. Your presence makes a real difference — creating a warm, secure space where everyone feels at home. If you’re ready to step up and be part of this vital ministry, reach out to Dan Lutes or call the church office at 506-458-8348 to learn more or sign up.
C. Tellers Needed
Are you a member of BSBC and looking for a simple yet meaningful way to serve?
We are looking for volunteers to join our Teller Team. This role involves helping count cash, cheques, and debit offerings after the Sunday morning service for just two months a year (about six months apart, such as February and August). The time commitment is about one hour each time, and you’ll be working alongside a small, friendly team.
If you’re interested or have any questions, please contact Andrea Bragdon, Chair of the Nominating Committee, at 506-292-3568 or andreabragdon9@gmail.com
D. Third Sunday Supper Volunteers
We have several months in 2026, when we need volunteers to prepare a meal for our guests. If you could help out, I would love to hear from you. Please contact Judy Thompson at 506-238-9903 or email judypaul1088@gmail.com.
E. Welcoming With Warmth — Join our Ushering and Greeting Teams
Every Sunday, the first smiles and handshakes at Brunswick Street Baptist Church come from our Ushers and Greeting Team. These dedicated volunteers set the tone for worship by creating a welcoming atmosphere by greeting members and guests, offering guidance, answering questions, and helping with seating, making BSBC a place where everyone feels they belong.
We are deeply thankful for their servant hearts and faithful presence each week.
If you feel called to be part of this important ministry, we would love to hear from you! Training and support are provided, and you’ll be joining a team that makes a real difference in people’s experience of worship.
If you’re interested and want more information to volunteer in the greeting team in the gym, please connect with Andrea Bragdon at her email: andreabragdon@rogers.com
If you’re interested and want more information to volunteer in the greeting team in the sanctuary, please connect with Stephen VanSlyke the usher chair at his email vanslyke@unb.ca.
“Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.”
– Romans 15:7
