You are warmly invited to join us as we celebrate a very special milestone — Roddy’s 80th birthday!

We’ll be hosting an open house celebration on Saturday, December 6 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm in the church gym, and we would love for our whole church family and friends to join us.

Best wishes only!

7. Volunteer Appreciation Evening: December 7

This Advent season, we want to express our deepest gratitude to every wonderful volunteer who serves within our Brunswick Street Baptist Church family. Your dedication, kindness, and faithful service make a difference in ways seen and unseen—and we want to celebrate YOU!

📅 Date: Sunday, December 7

🕕 Time: 6:00 to 8:00 pm

📍 Location: The Gym

Join us for a special evening filled with delicious desserts, lighthearted games, and plenty of fun as we gather to appreciate all who serve—whether in Sunday School, security, the muffin ministry, or any of the countless other ways you care for our church.

We’re excited to celebrate your service and the joy you bring to our church community!

8. Service of Comfort and Hope: December 18

As the losses of the past year cast a shadow on your familiar celebrations, I understand how your feelings are different this Christmas. You have deep longings for the ones who are not by your side. This is normal. As we prepare for Christmas, my thoughts and prayers are with you and for your comfort.

To assist you through this time, I invite you to the Service of Comfort and Hope, on Thursday, December 18, at 6:30 pm in the sanctuary. It is a service where candles will be lit in memory of loved ones who you long for. A reception time will follow. If you feel this would be helpful for you, mark this date on your calendar and register your intention to attend. This will assist us as we prepare the names for the Memorial Honour Roll.

Remember you are not alone,

Pastor Kevin Culberson

9. Starting Local Going Global Christmas Project 2025

Dear Church Family,

It’s coming up to that time of the year when we consider our ability to be a blessing to others as God blessed us with the precious gift of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. In its 24th year, our Starting Local/Going Global Christmas Project has been a means of practical blessing in the lives of people living here in Fredericton and another place of need in the world at large. I encourage you to read the following articles which will explain the projects to you and ask you to consider what you can do to bless others in Jesus’ name.

How do you give?

Mark your gift “Starting Local” to support families in our New Life Ministry and our Third Sunday Supper guests. Mark your gift “Going Global” to support vulnerable children and their families in India through Canadian Baptist Ministries. Gifts marked “SLGG” will be divided equally between the two funds.

It’s only November, but it’s not too early to consider blessing others this Christmas.

Starting Local

Our “Starting Local” campaign supports our New Life Ministry families. This ministry provides a supportive, spiritually encouraging setting where the women who come experience the love of Jesus through our leaders, teaching, prayer and sharing.

Each Christmas, we ask these women to let us know how we can support them in providing gifts and groceries for their households’ Christmas celebration. This year, we will be following the same format as last year. The Starting Local campaign will be a financial one focused on raising the funds needed to purchase gift cards as requested by our New Life Ministry participants. Gift cards empower these families to be able to shop for some extras themselves allowing them to share in the joy of gift giving. We will wrap up our campaign on the first Sunday of Advent at the combined morning service in the sanctuary on November 30th.

We make sure that each household receives sponsorship at a level equal to the approach of the Salvation Army and Greener Village. And, in addition to supporting our New Life participants, any financial gift you designate as “Starting Local” will allow us to provide a Christmas gift to our friends who attend our Third Sunday Supper ministry and some of our street level neighbours. Many are unable to connect with families and/or friends during the Christmas season. We hope this remembrance will remind them of God’s love and our love during what can be a challenging time.

Going Global

For this year’s Going Global project, we have the opportunity of blessing a CBM ministry that changes lives for vulnerable children and families in South Sudan.

We are thankful, so thankful for those in the pews,

For your generosity and support…and for all that you do.

But there still is time left to help even more,

Starting Local/Going Global…the ongoing needs, let’s explore

Gifts and food vouchers to make Christmas a little more grand,

For those we love locally…and much needed support for families in Southern Sudan

The friends of “The Things” have now all done their part,

So it’s up to us now to finish strong…from a very strong start

And the message last Sunday was heard loud and clear,

God is so good…Merry Christmas…and a Happy New Year.

Warm regards,

Missions Committee

Joel, Rosa, Tina, John, and Charles

10. Christmas Poinsettias: November 26

This Christmas season, we invite you to help us adorn our worship spaces by placing a poinsettia in honor or memory of someone special. Poinsettias will be arranged in the Sanctuary and in the Gym on the first Sunday of Advent, November 30, adding beauty and warmth throughout the holiday season.

Each poinsettia is $18. To order, simply pick up a “Christmas Poinsettias” envelope one of the welcome tables or in the Connections Centre and complete all required information to ensure your donation is properly designated. Please return the completed form to the church office by today, Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

We will recognize all donated plants in the Sunday Loop and the newsletter on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. For further details, please contact the church office at naomi.phillips@bsbc.nb.ca.

12. Appreciation from the Beers Family

Wayne, Mark and Andrew Beers

13. Volunteering Opportunities

A. Sunday Streets Muffin Ministry: January 2026

On behalf of our brothers and sisters who make a weekly evening trek around the city to visit those sleeping rough, and the members of your Social Action Team, thank you ‘muffin makers’ for your faithfulness serving in this way. Your sweet generosity is more than just baked goods; it’s an expression of care and hope in Jesus’ name.

Our Street Ministry team need muffins as soon as January 2026 for our Sunday night outreach program. As we prepare for the busy winter months, we aim to have 4 dozen muffins each week to ensure we’re well-stocked and ready to bless those we serve. If you are able to help in this way, please place 12 muffins, individually wrapped, in a large zipper locked bag, and label the bag “Street Ministry”. You can place the labeled muffins in the upright freezer in the main kitchen. Don’t forget to include your name and the delivery date for which you signed up.

Please click the link below or call the church office (506-458-8348) and our admin team will be pleased to do the online registration for you. Jesus spoke of offering cups of cold water in his name. Muffins, we believe, offer the same opportunity to bless others for Him.

Become a Muffin Maker

B. Security Volunteers Needed

Towards the fall we’re seeking dedicated volunteers to help keep our church safe and welcoming on weekday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00 pm starting in September. Your presence makes a real difference — creating a warm, secure space where everyone feels at home. If you’re ready to step up and be part of this vital ministry, reach out to Dan Lutes or call the church office at 506-458-8348 to learn more or sign up.

C. Tellers Needed

Are you a member of BSBC and looking for a simple yet meaningful way to serve?

We are looking for volunteers to join our Teller Team. This role involves helping count cash, cheques, and debit offerings after the Sunday morning service for just two months a year (about six months apart, such as February and August). The time commitment is about one hour each time, and you’ll be working alongside a small, friendly team.

If you’re interested or have any questions, please contact Andrea Bragdon, Chair of the Nominating Committee, at 506-292-3568 or andreabragdon9@gmail.com

D. Third Sunday Supper Volunteers

We have several months in 2026, when we need volunteers to prepare a meal for our guests. If you could help out, I would love to hear from you. Please contact Judy Thompson at 506-238-9903 or email judypaul1088@gmail.com.

E. Welcoming With Warmth — Join our Ushering and Greeting Teams

Every Sunday, the first smiles and handshakes at Brunswick Street Baptist Church come from our Ushers and Greeting Team. These dedicated volunteers set the tone for worship by creating a welcoming atmosphere by greeting members and guests, offering guidance, answering questions, and helping with seating, making BSBC a place where everyone feels they belong.

We are deeply thankful for their servant hearts and faithful presence each week.

If you feel called to be part of this important ministry, we would love to hear from you! Training and support are provided, and you’ll be joining a team that makes a real difference in people’s experience of worship.

If you’re interested and want more information to volunteer in the greeting team in the gym, please connect with Andrea Bragdon at her email: andreabragdon@rogers.com

If you’re interested and want more information to volunteer in the greeting team in the sanctuary, please connect with Stephen VanSlyke the usher chair at his email vanslyke@unb.ca.

Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.

– Romans 15:7

17. This Sunday’s Worship Gatherings: November 30

This Sunday marks our final week of Name Tag November. Wear your customized tag proudly and take a moment to greet someone you might not know yet!

This Sunday is the first week of Advent and marks the start of our Advent celebration. Please join us in the sanctuary for a Blended Worship Service where we will decorate the Christmas Tree as a family and witness the lighting of the Christmas lights together.  The worship team will be led by Gloria Tranquilla and David Steeves with special music from Kids Sing and the Christmas Choir.

Dr. Keith Bodner will be preaching. Of his sermon, “The Promise of Light”, he writes, “From the earliest moments of the biblical stories, the presence of light drives away darkness and enables life and flourishing in creation. We also notice that light is later used in the prophetic literature as an anticipation of God’s new activity, using the community of Israel as an instrument to gather the Gentile nations into the divine family: ‘It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth’ (Isa 49:6), and ‘Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn’ (Isa 60:3), for example. Not surprisingly, the arrival of the Messiah is often described as bathed in light, and one such instance is Luke 2:32, where the infant Jesus is referred to as: ‘a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel. Our Advent theme for this year is ‘The Promise of Christmas,’ and on this first Sunday of the Advent, we will celebrate the promise of light as foundational to our Christmas celebration this year”.

Whether in-person or online, be sure to join us this Sunday morning at 10:30 am.

  • We have provided McAdams, Bishops, and York Funeral Homes with the contact information for both Rev. Ross and Rev. Kevin

  • If you are not a member of a bereaved family but know of a death within the BSBC family, please contact the church office to make sure your pastors are aware of the need

Parish Nurses

  • The parish nursing ministry is intended to support and strengthen the spiritual, physical and emotional well-being of individuals, families, and the congregation at BSBC. Roz Thompson and Cheryl Gibson, your parish nurses, collaborate with members of the pastoral team promoting health and faith, to facilitate the healing of the body, mind, and spirit.
