1. Name Tag November
We’re excited to bring back Name Tag November at BSBC! This fun and meaningful tradition helps us strengthen our church community by learning (or re-learning) each other’s names and building connections.
Throughout November, we invite everyone, newcomers and long-time members alike, to wear a name tag each Sunday. When you arrive, simply stop by the entrance and ask one of our ushers or greeters for your personalized name tag.
2. BSBC Christmas Choir
A Special Christmas Choir is being formed, bringing together singers from both the Gym and Sanctuary congregations for our November 30 Combined Service: “Starting Local / Going Global.” This joyful choir is open to kids, teens, and adults—everyone is encouraged to join in and lift their voices in celebration!
Rehearsals will be held on Sundays, November 16 and November 23 at 11:45 am to 12:15 pm in the choir room.
Come be part of something special as we prepare to celebrate the season together through music and worship!
3. 55+ Luncheon: November 18
Join us, Tuesday November 18 at 12:00 noon, for a warm and welcoming afternoon of good food and fellowship! Enjoy a delicious selection of hot, homemade soups served with freshly baked Bannock bread — and be sure to save room for a generous slice of freshly prepared War Cake for dessert!
After lunch, we’ll kick off the holiday season with a special presentation from Lynn Redding, who will be sharing her beautiful collection of Nativity Scenes from around the world.
It’s sure to be a cozy, festive gathering — you won’t want to miss it!
4. Advent Crafternoon: Saturday, November 22
Join us for an unforgettable afternoon of creativity, laughter, and festive fun for all ages on Saturday, November 22 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. Whether you're a seasoned crafter or just love getting your hands messy with glitter and glue, Advent Crafternoon is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season with friends and family. Explore a wide variety of craft stations—there’s something for everyone! From simple projects for little hands to more advanced creations like our Macrame Angel or Christmas Wreath, you’ll leave with handmade treasures and warm memories.
On Remembrance Sunday, November 9, visit the Connections Centre to browse our craft lineup and reserve your spot. Register by November 17 at the link below to ensure we have all the crafting supplies ready for you.
We will also supply some cookies, coffee, tea and juice. If you are able, please bring a finger-food dessert to share.
Each craft comes with a small fee to cover expenses. You can pay in cash with your registration form, at the door on November 22, or by e-transfer to giving@bsbc.nb.ca. Make sure to put “Advent Craft” in the memo line of your e-transfer.
Don’t miss this joyful celebration of creativity, community, and Christmas spirit. We can’t wait to craft with you!
5. Children’s Christmas Party: November 29
Children from kindergarten to grade 5 are welcome to join together with their parents, along with other families in and outside of our church for our Children’s Christmas Party. All are welcome to join, Saturday November 29th, 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm.
Register online to let us know you and your family will be coming! Share this with your friends, and reach out to Pastor Nikki if you have any questions.
6. Starting Local Going Global Christmas Project 2025
Hello there friends, both near and far, it’s time to prepare for a project with flair! Thing 1, Thing 2, and Thing 3 will appear, with news of a mission that brings Christmas cheer!
The season is coming, it’s jolly and bright, a time to bring love, to share joy and light.
As God gave His Son, our Savior so dear, we’re called to bless others this time of year.
From Fredericton’s streets to lands far away, we’re starting local, then going global, hooray! With kindness and giving, with hearts full of grace, we’ll brighten the world, every soul, every place.
So stay tuned next week, we’ll tell you the plan, of how you can help — yes, YOU — yes, you can! In Jesus’ sweet name, we’ll give and we’ll go, spreading His love like fresh-fallen snow!
God is so good!
7. Christmas Poinsettias
This Christmas season, we invite you to help us adorn our worship spaces by placing a poinsettia in honor or memory of someone special. Poinsettias will be arranged in the Sanctuary and in the Gym on the first Sunday of Advent, November 30, adding beauty and warmth throughout the holiday season.
Each poinsettia is $18. To order, simply pick up a “Christmas Poinsettias” envelope one of the welcome tables or in the Connections Centre and complete all required information to ensure your donation is properly designated. Please return the completed form to the church office by Monday, November 24, 2025.
We will recognize all donated plants in the Sunday Loop and the newsletter on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. For further details, please contact the church office at naomi.phillips@bsbc.nb.ca.
8. Scouting Group Christmas Wreath and Tree Fundraiser
Scouting groups of BSBC are selling decorated balsam fir Christmas wreaths ($15) and Christmas trees ($45-$55) this year. Wreaths will be ready for sale November 29th. Christmas trees will be available from November 29th – December 11th. This is our Scouting groups’ only event to raise funds for camp equipment, outdoor activities, and community service. Order forms will be available at the church gym foyer bulletin board. Completed order forms can be left in the church mailbox of Dale Wilson. Order deadline for wreaths is Nov 30th and trees Dec. 7th. You can pay by Cash, e-transfer (6wilson@nb.sympatico.ca) or cheque (payable to 1st Fredericton BPSA) and please make payment at the time of your order.
For information or to order by phone, call: Dale or Elizabeth Wilson 506-458-1402.
Thank you for your support!
9. Communion Element Update: Contains Gluten
The Board of Deacons would like to apologize for stating that the pre-packaged communion elements are gluten free.
A member of the Board of Management was able to verify that the wafer portion contains gluten. The pre-packaged communion elements will still be available for those congregants that prefer this method.
We humbly apologize and pray no one has become sick from this error.
10. Green Hill Lake Camp Fundraising
In honour of Stephen Alward retiring this year, Green Hill Lake Camp has brought us “photo film” cannisters to fill and help pay off their mortgage by the end of 2025. Our Atlantic Baptist Foundation is matching these funds, and there is about 70 thousand left, or 35 with matching. Please see or contact Joel Trail at joeltrail@gmail.com or Charles Millette at charles.millette@sim.org to pick up some for your family. This limited time offer expires on Dec 10, so we have time to deliver them back. There is a code to scan on the cans if you prefer web donations.
11. A Note of Thanks from the Clark Family
Alfie Clark and family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to our church family for the outpouring of love and support following the passing of David. Your prayers, kind words, thoughtful cards, delicious meals, and warm hugs have been a great source of comfort and strength during this difficult time.
We are deeply grateful for the compassion and care shown to us — a true reflection of Christ’s love through His people. Thank you for walking alongside us with such kindness and grace.
12. Volunteering Opportunities
A. Sunday Streets Muffin Ministry: December 5
On behalf of our brothers and sisters who make a weekly evening trek around the city to visit those sleeping rough, and the members of your Social Action Team, thank you ‘muffin makers’ for your faithfulness serving in this way. Your sweet generosity is more than just baked goods; it’s an expression of care and hope in Jesus’ name.
Our Street Ministry team need muffins as soon as December 5 for our Sunday night outreach program. As we prepare for the busy winter months, we aim to have 4 dozen muffins each week to ensure we’re well-stocked and ready to bless those we serve. If you are able to help in this way, please place 12 muffins, individually wrapped, in a large zipper locked bag, and label the bag “Street Ministry”. You can place the labeled muffins in the upright freezer in the main kitchen. Don’t forget to include your name and the delivery date for which you signed up.
Please click the link below or call the church office (506-458-8348) and our admin team will be pleased to do the online registration for you. Jesus spoke of offering cups of cold water in his name. Muffins, we believe, offer the same opportunity to bless others for Him.
B. Security Volunteers Needed
Towards the fall we’re seeking dedicated volunteers to help keep our church safe and welcoming on weekday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00 pm starting in September. Your presence makes a real difference — creating a warm, secure space where everyone feels at home. If you’re ready to step up and be part of this vital ministry, reach out to Dan Lutes or call the church office at 506-458-8348 to learn more or sign up.
C. Tellers Needed
Are you a member of BSBC and looking for a simple yet meaningful way to serve?
We are looking for volunteers to join our Teller Team. This role involves helping count cash, cheques, and debit offerings after the Sunday morning service for just two months a year (about six months apart, such as February and August). The time commitment is about one hour each time, and you’ll be working alongside a small, friendly team.
If you’re interested or have any questions, please contact Andrea Bragdon, Chair of the Nominating Committee, at 506-292-3568 or andreabragdon9@gmail.com
D. Third Sunday Supper Volunteers
Looking ahead, we are also planning for 2026 and have many months available for volunteers to provide a meal for our guests. If you would like to learn more or are interested in help with Third Sunday Supper, please reach out to Judy Thompson at 506-238-9903 or email judypaul1088@gmail.com.
E. Welcoming With Warmth — Join our Ushering and Greeting Teams
Every Sunday, the first smiles and handshakes at Brunswick Street Baptist Church come from our Ushers and Greeting Team. These dedicated volunteers set the tone for worship by creating a welcoming atmosphere by greeting members and guests, offering guidance, answering questions, and helping with seating, making BSBC a place where everyone feels they belong.
We are deeply thankful for their servant hearts and faithful presence each week.
If you feel called to be part of this important ministry, we would love to hear from you! Training and support are provided, and you’ll be joining a team that makes a real difference in people’s experience of worship.
If you’re interested and want more information to volunteer in the greeting team in the gym, please connect with Andrea Bragdon at her email: andreabragdon@rogers.com
If you’re interested and want more information to volunteer in the greeting team in the sanctuary, please connect with Stephen VanSlyke the usher chair at his email vanslyke@unb.ca.
“Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.”
– Romans 15:7

14. This Sunday’s Worship Gatherings: November 16

In the Sanctuary, the worship team will be led by Gloria Tranquilla and David Steeves. In the gym, the worship team will be led by Joel Flores.
This Sunday Dr. Keith Bodner will be preaching in the sanctuary and gym. Of his sermon he says “In the news lately there have been a number of reports of scams and fraud, and of course in recent days, the heist of Louvre in Paris and the brazen robbery of valuable pieces of the collection. Such accounts prompt us this morning to explore another kind of theft describes in Matthew 24:42-44, the parable of the Homeowner and the Thief: ‘Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.’ As we work through this passage, we will notice a surprising number of powerful and practical applications for our lives today.”
Whether in-person or online, be sure to join us this Sunday morning at 10:30 am.
