The National Day of Truth and Reconciliation is on Wednesday, September 30. The church offices will be closed on September 30 to commemorate this day.

This Sunday we will be acknowledging the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in our services. You are invited to wear an orange shirt to highlight our shared responsibility to work together toward healing and restored relationships with our indigenous neighbours.

We do so by remembering 2 Corinthians 5:18-19:

“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.”

3. Church Community Potluck | Wednesdays | 5:30 pm

Please join us for fellowship around the table with our church family that allows young and old to get to know each other.

Our set up time is at 5:15 pm in the gym and we pray and eat at 5:30 pm. Bring a simple dish to contribute to the diverse array of food – bought or home cooked – that appears each week!

4. Scouts: Beginning Today

We’re back! Otters, Timberwolves, and Woodsmen will begin their new season on Today, September 23, 2026.

Otters and Timberwolves will meet in the Fellowship Hall at 6:00 pm before moving to the gym from 6:30 to 7:30 pm, and the Woodsmen will meet in the gym from 7:30 to 9:00 pm.

The first night, tonight, will serve as both registration and a regular meeting, and families are encouraged to attend.

5. Harvest for the Hungry 2026

Fall is here, and once again we have the opportunity to share God’s love with those in need, both within our church family and across the Greater Fredericton area.

Harvest for the Hungry, a ministry of our Social Action Team, invites our BSBC family to share in a tangible way with our community as we lead up to Thanksgiving. You are invited to either contribute financially by marking your giving (envelope or etransfer) with "Harvest for the Hungry" or to bring non-perishable food and household items to the church over the two weeks before Thanksgiving.

All donations will be shared between our New Life Ministry (supporting families who struggle to ‘make ends meet’) and the Greener Village Fredericton Food Bank.

Financial donation to the project can be made by simply designating your gift to “Harvest for the Hungry." Financial donations allow the opportunity of purchasing the much-needed items in bulk at a reduced cost, particularly as Greener Village has many partnerships with local suppliers. After Thanksgiving, these financial gifts will be divided evenly between the New Life ministry and Greener Village.

6. Grades 3 to 12 Music Ministry Registration | Sunday, September 27

Starting this Fall, we are seeking school students in our church from Grades 3 to 12 who enjoy singing and serving the Lord with their musical talents. Parents and students are encouraged to fill in the survey and registration form as soon as possible to help us get organized by age and musical interests such as singing, handbells and /or playing instruments. David Steeves will be available Sunday from 10:30 to 10:45 am and from 11:00 to 11:15 am with the registration forms and to meet with parents and students to answer any questions and receive filled out forms at the front of the sanctuary. We look forward to building a vibrant music program in our church and are seeking young musicians to get involved.

Rehearsal times are set to begin the week of October 4th.

7. DivorceCare Support Group | Tuesdays

No matter how amiable, separation or divorce is one of the most painful experiences. A DivorceCare group is a safe, welcoming place where people understand the difficult emotions and challenges of separation and divorce. During this 13-week support group program, you’ll discover what to expect in the days ahead and navigate your personal healing journey. Since separation and divorce can be messy and confusing, you’ll learn helpful ways of coping with the challenges and navigating relationships—and gain solid support each step of the way.

At each weekly meeting, you will view a video featuring respected counselors, pastors, and healthcare professionals on divorce and recovery topics; plus, you’ll hear relatable personal stories of separation and divorce. After that is a small group discussion to allow people time to talk, share support, and personally apply what they learned on the video. Everyone will receive a book to take home filled with valuable exercises for navigating their personal road to recovery.

Topics include how to manage divorce-related emotions such as loneliness, anxiety, bitterness, anger, and grief; how to cope with the changes in your life and relationships; the importance of forgiveness; and how to navigate legal and financial issues.

Called to Serve is an Acadia Divinity College oral history project featuring women who were ordained by Baptist churches in Atlantic Canada between 1954 and 2024. Hear the stories of the calling and ministry of faithful people within the CBAC.

9. Stained Glass Windows: Construction Starts October 5

Parallel Studios will start work on Monday, October 5th, to remove the south-facing second storey stained glass windows. This will include set up of scaffolding in the sanctuary parking lot (area accessed from York Street). This will enable the dismantling and removal of the second storey sanctuary windows and may involve set up of lifting equipment from time to time which will further affect parking availability. Parking will be returned to normal once the removal and closure of the openings are complete.

The work will also affect the balcony pews beneath the south-facing windows which will be unavailable for use during construction.

Once the windows are removed, the openings will be covered with temporary plywood boarding, complete with weather gaskets and removable caulking. This will deliver a weather-tight seal. Parallel Studios will return in the spring to re-install the restored windows.

Parallel Studios intends to be on site from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm daily, except Sundays. Their expectation is that their on-site work will be completed on or before Friday, October 16th.

10. BSBC Christmas Pageant 2026: Coming Soon!

BSBC is excited to present a Christmas Pageant this year! The pageant will be directed by Anika Fraser.

Roles are available for all ages, including Angels, Angel of the Lord, Angel Gabriel, Shepherds, Wise Men, Joseph, Mary, and a Narrator. Younger children will join the angel choir, while older elementary and middle school students may take on speaking roles. It’s a great opportunity for kids to help share the Christmas story together.

11. Trunk or Treat is Back! | October 25 | 2:30 to 3:30 pm | Volunteers Needed!

Coming up on Sunday, October 25 from 2:30 to 3:30 pm, we will be hosting our 6th Annual Trunk or Treat event! Please invite your friends and family and anyone else, whether outside or inside of our church. This community outreach event is open to all!

Cars/Vehicles: We are asking for volunteers who would like to RSVP and then decorate their cars. If you and your family would like to take part in this way, please let Pastor Nikki know by emailing her at nikki@bsbc.nb.ca! If you need ideas for how to decorate your vehicle, Nikki would be happy to send some ideas your way! Please RSVP your car for this event by October 15.

Candy/Treats/Drinks: Volunteers of all ages are welcome to be a part of this! If you would like to donate candy or other treats for this event, please bring your goodies to the church office by October 20. If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Nikki at nikki@bsbc.nb.ca for more details.

Youth Volunteers: We would like all of our youth to be involved with this event. There will be options to get dressed up in costumes, help people decorate their cars, transport candies, treats, and drinks to the decorated vehicles, eat and drink treats, and help lead games.

12. Green Hill Lake Camp

Hey! Greetings from GHLC!

It’s hard to believe another summer has come and gone! We are so thankful for another incredible season of ministry and for the staff, volunteers, churches, donors, families, and friends who helped make it possible.

This summer we continued to see campers of all ages coming through our gates, to true new things, meet new friends and encounter God. Seeds were planted, meaningful conversations happened, and we celebrated with campers who made decisions to follow Jesus. Thank you for being part of what God is doing at Green Hill!

Save the date for our annual family dinner, Christmas at the Lake, on Saturday, November 21st from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at GHLC! Join us for a turkey dinner, Christmas carols, special music, a children’s program, and a great evening of fellowship as we celebrate the Christmas season together. An offering will be received in support of the ongoing ministry of GHLC.

We are so thankful for the many people and churches who continue to make this ministry possible. As we head into another season, we hope you’ll continue to join us in the ministry here at GHLC – through prayer, giving, volunteering, attending events, and simply sharing what God is doing at camp.

A. Sunday Streets Muffin Ministry: October 25

On behalf of our brothers and sisters who make a weekly evening trek around the city to visit those sleeping rough, and the members of your Social Action Team, thank you ‘muffin makers’ for your faithfulness serving in this way. Your sweet generosity is more than just baked goods; it’s an expression of care and hope in Jesus’ name.

Our Street Ministry team need muffins as soon as October 25 for our Sunday night outreach program. As we prepare for the busy summer months, we aim to have 4 dozen muffins each week to ensure we’re well-stocked and ready to bless those we serve. If you are able to help in this way, please place 12 muffins, individually wrapped, in a large zipper locked bag, and label the bag “Street Ministry”. Don’t forget to include your name and the delivery date for which you signed up. You can place the labeled muffins in the upright freezer in the main kitchen.

On the Third Sunday of each month, we host a supper for those in need in our community. At this time all months are available, and we are anxious to fill the first few months, to get us going. We'd appreciate if you would prayerfully consider helping out with this ministry that the Lord has truly blessed for so many years.

16. NextGen Ministry (Children & Youth)

KidzTown, Nursery & Preschool | Sundays | 11:30 am to 12:30 pm

Kids! Join us Sunday morning in the worship services. Be sure to sign in before the service starts. At 11:30 am, our KidzTown, Nursery, and Preschool leaders will collect children from the sanctuary, and lead them to their designated program areas. Nursery (0 to 2 years) children will be taken to the nursery, Preschoolers (2 to 4 years) will follow along to the Farm room, and children from Kindergarten to Grade 5 will be taken to the second floor for KidzTown Ministries during the Contemporary Worship service (11:30 am to 12:30 pm). Traditional Service Child Care Information | 9:30 am to 10:30 am

With our new stacked service structure, there will be no childcare or children’s programming during the 9:30 am Traditional Service. Sunday School will be slotted in the Connection Time period from 10:35 am to 11:10 am. At the main entrance there will be activity packs available in the vestibule at the back of the sanctuary, and the nursery, with a livestream screen, will remain open for parents to use with their children. Preschool and KidzTown will run during the 11:30 am Contemporary Service, with newborns to 2 years in the Nursery, ages 2 to 4 years in the Preschool Farm Room, and Kindergarten to Grade 5 in KidzTown. As we begin testing our updated preschool setup, if you have any questions, please reach out to Pastor Nikki.

Little Lambs Play Group | Wednesday | 10:00 am

There will be no Little Lambs on Wednesday September 30, as the church office is closed for Truth and Reconciliation Day. Typically, Little Lambs will be meeting in the church’s nursery every Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:30 am. Parents, caregivers, and little ones are invited to join us for a drop-in play group on Wednesday mornings for a relaxed time of play and connection. Babies and toddlers can enjoy free play while adults build community, slow down, and share life together. Snacks, coffee, and tea are provided.

First Youth Thursdays! | Thursday, September 24 | 4:45 to 8:00 pm

We will be jumping back into Youth Thursdays on September 24. All youth from grade 6 to 12 are invited to join us for supper at 5:00 pm, Bible Study at 5:30 pm, and Youth Group at 6:30 pm where we will be playing full church games to kick off the school year. All of our teens in grades 6 to 12 are welcome to join us for the Fredericton Youth Rally. The youth of Fredericton are joining together to worship Jesus under one roof. There will be games, snacks, and a large worship gathering. This year, the FYR will be hosted by Smythe Street Church. The fee is $15.00 per student.
