Fall is here, and once again we have the opportunity to share God’s love with those in need, both within our church family and across the Greater Fredericton area.

Harvest for the Hungry, a ministry of our Social Action Team, invites our BSBC family to share in a tangible way with our community as we lead up to Thanksgiving. You are invited to either contribute financially by marking your giving (envelope or etransfer) with "Harvest for the Hungry" or to bring non-perishable food and household items to the church over the two weeks before Thanksgiving.

All donations will be shared between our New Life Ministry (supporting families who struggle to ‘make ends meet’) and the Greener Village Fredericton Food Bank.

Financial donation to the project can be made by simply designating your gift to “Harvest for the Hungry." Financial donations allow the opportunity of purchasing the much-needed items in bulk at a reduced cost, particularly as Greener Village has many partnerships with local suppliers. After Thanksgiving, these financial gifts will be divided evenly between the New Life ministry and Greener Village.

4. Church Community Potluck | Wednesdays | 5:30 pm | Today!

Please join us for fellowship around the table with our church family that allows young and old to get to know each other.

Our set up time is at 5:15 pm in the gym and we pray and eat at 5:30 pm.

Bring a simple dish to contribute to the diverse array of food – bought or home cooked – that appears each week!

5. Grades 3 to 12 Music Ministry Registration | Choir Room, 2nd Floor, Connection Centre

Starting this Fall we are seeking school students in our church from Grades 3 to 12 who enjoy singing and serving the Lord with their musical talents. Parents and students are encouraged to fill in the survey and registration form as soon as possible to help us get organized by age and musical interests such as singing, handbells and /or playing instruments. David Steeves will be available after both 9:30am and 11:15am services with the forms and to meet with the students and their parents at the front of the sanctuary. We look forward to building a vibrant music program in our church and are seeking young musicians to get involved.

6. Scouts: Beginning September 23

We’re back! Otters, Timberwolves, and Woodsmen will begin their new season on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

Otters and Timberwolves will meet in the Fellowship Hall at 6:00 pm before moving to the gym from 6:30 to 7:30 pm, and the Woodsmen will meet in the gym from 7:30 to 9:00 pm.

This first night will serve as both registration and a regular meeting, and families are encouraged to attend.

7. BSBC Christmas Pageant 2026: Coming Soon!

BSBC is excited to present a Christmas Pageant this year! The pageant will be directed by Anika Fraser.

Roles are available for all ages, including Angels, Angel of the Lord, Angel Gabriel, Shepherds, Wise Men, Joseph, Mary, and a Narrator. Younger children will join the angel choir, while older elementary and middle school students may take on speaking roles. It’s a great opportunity for kids to help share the Christmas story together.

8. Gloria Tranquilla’s Retirement Celebration

On Wednesday, September 2, members of the Sanctuary Choir, music ministry members, church members, and all who have been blessed by Gloria Tranquilla’s ministry at BSBC, had the opportunity to celebrate her retirement. We are grateful for the beautiful music, the sacrifice, service, and love she has put into the church and everyone at BSBC. We wish her well in her retirement and the next chapter in her life.

A. Sunday Streets Muffin Ministry: October 25

On behalf of our brothers and sisters who make a weekly evening trek around the city to visit those sleeping rough, and the members of your Social Action Team, thank you ‘muffin makers’ for your faithfulness serving in this way. Your sweet generosity is more than just baked goods; it’s an expression of care and hope in Jesus’ name.

Our Street Ministry team need muffins as soon as October 25 for our Sunday night outreach program. As we prepare for the busy summer months, we aim to have 4 dozen muffins each week to ensure we’re well-stocked and ready to bless those we serve. If you are able to help in this way, please place 12 muffins, individually wrapped, in a large zipper locked bag, and label the bag “Street Ministry”. Don’t forget to include your name and the delivery date for which you signed up. You can place the labeled muffins in the upright freezer in the main kitchen.

B. Security Volunteers Needed

We’re seeking dedicated volunteers to help keep our church safe and welcoming on weekday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Your presence makes a real difference — creating a warm, secure space where everyone feels at home. C. Third Sunday Supper: 2027 Monthly Schedule!

On the Third Sunday of each month, we host a supper for those in need in our community. We are now looking to fill our 2027 monthly calendar with folks willing to prepare a meal for our Third Sunday Supper (TSS) guests. At this time all months are available, and we are anxious to fill the first few months, to get us going. We'd appreciate if you would prayerfully consider helping out with this ministry that the Lord has truly blessed for so many years.

12. NextGen Ministry (Children & Youth)

KidzTown, Nursery & Preschool | Sundays | 11:30 am to 12:30 pm

Kids! Join us Sunday morning in the worship services. Be sure to sign in before the service starts. At 11:30 am, our KidzTown, Nursery, and Preschool leaders will collect children from the sanctuary, and lead them to their designated program areas. Nursery (0 to 2 years) children will be taken to the nursery room, Preschoolers (2 to 4 years) will follow along to the Farm room, and children from Kindergarten to Grade 5 will be taken to the second floor for KidzTown Ministries during the Contemporary Worship service (11:30 am to 12:30 pm). Traditional Service Child Care Information | 9:30 am to 10:30 am

With our new stacked service structure, there will be no childcare or children’s programming during the 9:30 am Traditional Service. Sunday School will be slotted in the Connection Time period from 10:35 am to 11:10 am. A Kids’ Corner with activity packs will be available at the back of the sanctuary, and the nursery will remain open for parents with a livestream screen. Preschool and KidzTown will run during the 11:30 am Contemporary Service, with newborns to 2 years in the Nursery, ages 2 to 4 years in the Preschool Farm Room, and Kindergarten to Grade 5 in KidzTown. As we begin testing our updated preschool setup, if you have any questions, please reach out to Pastor Nikki.

Little Lambs Play Group | Wednesday | 10:00 am

Little Lambs will be meeting in the church’s nursery every Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:30 am. Parents, caregivers, and little ones are invited to join us for a drop-in play group on Wednesday mornings for a relaxed time of play and connection. Babies and toddlers can enjoy free play while adults build community, slow down, and share life together. Snacks, coffee, and tea are provided.

Sunday School | Sundays | 10:35 to 11:10 am

Our Sunday School classes are every Sunday, 10:35 to 11:10 am. This is an intentional time for all those from pre-kindergarten to 18 years old to grow deeper in their understanding of the Bible.

At the same time, adults and parents are invited to Connection Time for coffee, tea, and fellowship in the gym from 10:30 to 11:15 am, between services.

High School Girls Fellowship | Wednesday, September 23 | 6:30 to 8:30 pm

We offer a monthly High School Girls gathering. Girls meet up for fellowship, snacks, crafts, and talking about Jesus. The first session will be on Wednesday, September 23, on the 3rd Floor of the Family Life Center.

First Youth Thursdays! | Thursday, September 24 | 4:45 to 8:00 pm

We will be jumping back into Youth Thursdays next Thursday, on September 24. All youth from grade 6 to 12 are invited to join us for supper at 5:00 pm, Bible Study at 5:30 pm, and Youth Group at 6:30 pm where we will be playing full church games to kick off the school year. 15. This Sunday’s Worship Gathering | Sanctuary | September 20

Music for the Traditional Service will be offered by Beth Snow and the Sanctuary Choir. The worship team for the Contemporary service will be led by Julianne Moore.

Dr. Keith Bodner will be preaching in both services on Acts 12. Of his sermon he says: “Our tour of Acts 11 last week started with the Jerusalem believers hearing a disturbing rumor that Peter ‘went into the house of uncircumcised men and ate with them,’ but they are startled to hear that the Holy Spirit was poured out on Gentiles, and conclude that Peter is right about God’s acceptance of everyone in Christ. It is surely not an accident that spectacular growth of the church abroad is narrated in the aftermath of this affirmation. And yet, after this most astonishing growth, there is a decided increase in hostility directed against the people of God in Jerusalem in Acts 12, where our attention turns this week. In the wake of the martyrdom of James, the brother of John, King Herod (Agrippa I) then imprisons Peter, with the intent of executing him once the Feast of Unleavened Bread has finished. During this very stressful period, the church is actively praying, and there is a most unlikely turn of events whereby Peter escapes from the heavily fortified prison. Though contemporary believers might be puzzled that James is killed while Peter is set free, we are challenged to understand our prayers in light of God's sovereignty and that no powers or darkness ultimately can stand against the Kingdom, surely a powerful truth for that helps us to navigate any season of change or disruption.”

Lydia Kaine

The family of the late Lydia Kaine wishes to share the peaceful passing of our dear aunt and family member, which occurred in Calgary, Alberta, in November 2025.

Lydia held a lifelong and deeply cherished connection to Fredericton, and particularly to her church family at Brunswick Street Baptist Church. Throughout her life, her faith and dedication were reflected in her active participation in church committees, the Ladies Auxiliary, and missionary groups.

Family, friends, and her dear community at Brunswick Street Baptist are warmly invited to join us for a graveside service to honour her memory and celebrate her life on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 1:00 pm at the Fredericton Rural Cemetery Extension. The service will be under the direction of Rev. Greg Geldart.
