Come browse, donate, and help make a difference through missions. We look forward to seeing you there!
3. Fall Business Meeting: November 18
The moderator is calling a Fall Business Meeting for Wednesday, November 18, 2026 at 6:30 pm in the sanctuary. Items to be discussed include reports from the Board of Deacons, Board of Management, and the ad hoc Constitution Committee.
The ad hoc Constitution Committee proposes the following changes to the BSBC Constitution:
As per Constitution+2026.pdf (click the link below for the full document), proposals to amend the church constitution were submitted to the BoM and BoD. An ad hoc constitution committee considered said amendments, and brought proposals to the BoM and the BoD. The proposed ADDITIONS of 2.4 and 2.5, and REPLACEMENT of 8.5.1, have been approved by both boards.
Church Polity
It is recommended to add the following clauses to the Church Polity (Form of Governance) section of the Constitution. These clauses affect not only business meetings of the Church, but also board, committee, and team meetings, as the groups deem appropriate. The language reflects current practice and does not suggest any changes to what is being done. It is a recognition of what we have already started to do during the pandemic at church business meetings, and other meetings. The intention is to explicitly allow people who cannot (or who choose not to) attend in person due to illness, infirmity, travel, or other reasons, to be able to attend virtually and be recognized as participating in the meeting. Their attendance is counted for quorum.
PROPOSED ADDITION
2.4 A meeting may be held by electronic means and/or a person who is otherwise eligible to attend a meeting in person may attend by electronic means, i.e. by using a supported method of electronic or telephonic communication that enables all persons attending the meeting to communicate with each other, including, without limitation, teleconferencing and computer network-based or internet-based communication platforms. The electronic means that are supported for a given meeting, if any, shall be communicated in advance.
2.5 If the organizers of a meeting have decided to allow virtual voting for the meeting, a person attending a meeting by electronic means who is entitled to vote at that meeting may vote by any electronic, telephonic, or other method that the meeting organizers have made available for that purpose.
Missions Committee
There is a desire to improve the continuity for the membership of the Missions Committee. It is recommended to achieve that by increasing the length of terms of the members from the Church and recommend that the terms of the members overlap but do not coincide.
Historically, there have been multiple missionary societies that participated in the Church with representation on the Missions Committee. There is currently only one missionary society that participates in the Missions Committee. The wording should reflect that to avoid confusion about the size of the Committee.
CURRENT
8.5.1 The Missions Committee shall consist of one (1) Church member representative appointed by each Missionary Society from its members, two (2) members of the Church elected each year for a term of two (2) years and one (1) representative appointed by the Board of Deacons from its members.
PROPOSED CHANGES
8.5.1 The Missions Committee shall consist of one (1) Church member representative appointed annually by the Women's Missionary Society from its members, one (1) representative appointed annually by the Board of Deacons from its members, and two (2) additional members of the Church. The additional members of the Church shall be elected by the Church for a term of three (3) years. Generally, the terms of the two additional members should not start the same year to allow for overlap and sharing of experience during transitions.
4. Thank You From Reverend Changbin Tian
Dear brothers and sisters,
Thank you so much for coming to witness my ordination. It is a profound grace to serve as a servant of God. I am grateful to the Lord for His constant companionship and guidance, which have brought me to this day. As it is written in 1 Corinthians 15:10 (NIV): "But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect... but the grace of God that was with me."
I would like to express my special thanks to the pastors, staff, and the entire congregation of BSBC for your ongoing care, support, and prayers for our Chinese Ministry. Thank you all for the support and assistance you have provided throughout my ordination process; God is aware of every prayer and every act of kindness you have offered. Both I and our Chinese Ministry are a testament—a response from God—to your prayers.
I am also deeply grateful to the brothers and sisters of our Chinese Ministry; your companionship, patience, and forbearance have helped me reach this point. My heartfelt thanks go to my wife, Jian Zhang, and our children—Elaine, Leon, and Ryan—for their unwavering support; they have always stood firmly by my side.
As I continue my journey of following God, I trust that He will keep shaping and molding me. My past experiences serve as a witness to His presence, and I look forward to continuing to testify to God’s faithfulness, love, and righteousness in the days ahead.
May our BSBC family continue to shine as a bright light within the community of Fredericton.
To God be all the glory!
Thank you all, and may God richly bless you!
With gratitude In Christ,
Rev. Changbin Tian
5. Trunk or Treat was a Success!
On Sunday, October 25, we hosted our 6th Annual Trunk or Treat Event, and it was another successful event! In our George Street parking lot, we had 14 decorated vehicles and 5 games tables where participants were able to collect treats and fellowship with friends, family, dogs, doubles, and lions! We saw about 115 trick or treaters from our community.
Thank you for your donation of time, energy, treats, and otherwise for all of your help! To be a part of Trunk or Treat in 2027, please contact Pastor Nikki at nikki@bsbc.nb.ca.

PVSCRC
Please note we are in the process of updating our leader and volunteer database, checking for expiry dates for Police Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Checks (PVSCRC) which need to be updated every 4 years. If your PVSCRC has expired or is nearing expiration you will be receiving an email from Pastor Nikki letting you know that a request letter has been printed and placed in the mail slot in the Connection Centre. Once you’ve received your letter you can take it to the police station and request a new PVSCRC. When you receive your new PVSCRC please drop it off at the church office. Thank you for giving your time and energy to our programs and ministries at BSBC. We appreciate you.
9. Advent Crafternoon Volunteers Needed: November 21
With Advent Crafternoon shaping up to be a wonderful afternoon of creativity, fellowship, and holiday fun, we’ll need lots of helping hands to make it a success.
Our Advent Crafternoon on Saturday, November 21, from 1:30 to 3:30 pm is sure to be a festive and fun-filled event for all ages, and we need your help!
We are looking for volunteers to assist with:
Setting up craft stations before the event

Serving coffee, tea, juice, and cookies
Tidying up and cleaning up afterward
Providing finger-food desserts to share
Whether you can help for the entire afternoon or just part of the time, your support will make a big difference and help create a warm, welcoming experience for everyone who attends.
If you are willing to volunteer, please email Naomi in the church office at naomi.phillips@bsbc.nb.ca.
Thank you for helping make Advent Crafternoon a memorable start to the Christmas season!
10. Harvest For Hungry Update
Thank-you to everyone who donated financially or through nonperishable items to our Harvest for the Hungry collection for Thanksgiving. Thanks to your generous donations, the New Life cupboards are not nearly as bare, and we were able to also give many bags of groceries to our neighbours outside the church through the Greener Village Community foodbank. You have generously given $4,360.00 which will be split between the New Life Ministry and the Greener Village Food Bank. Your donations help at a time when many are struggling to pay bills, put food on the table and afford necessities.
Thank-you for your support.
BSBC Social Action Team
11. Library Artwork: Handprints
The Library Committee is trying to revamp the children and youth section in the library. We will be having a mural/decorative logo placed on the blue wall, but we thought it would so fun to include the kids/youth.
So, over the end the October until the beginning of November, the kids will have an opportunity to paint their hands, which will then be part of the wall sticker, along with their first name. The hand painting operation will take place during Preschool, KidzTown, and Youth Thursdays.
If you do not wish for your child to take part of this event, please notify the office, Sam, the Children’s Ministry Coordinator or Pastor Nikki.
12. Baked Goods for Connection Time
Connections Time is being enjoyed by many each Sunday. Along with the hot and cold drinks has been the addition of baked goods for everyone’s enjoyment. Helping Hands Auxiliary is seeking baked goods for this time and would welcome any additions each Sunday.
If you would like to bake or donate baked goods, please contact Andrea Bragdon at andreabragdon9@gmail.com or (506) 292-3568 or contact the Church Office.
Stay tuned for more information on registering to provide baked good.
Thank you so much, BSBC Family!!
13. Stained Glass Windows Construction Update
The south-facing stained glass windows have been removed from the second floor. The contractor has advised that they arrived safely to their studio in Ontario.
The plywood hoarding and caulking will protect the window openings until the restored windows are reinstalled in spring 2027.
At that time, they will also repair on-site the remaining upper south-facing windows. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

16. Giving Thanks Through Generosity: Update
"Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever." Psalm 107:1
As we celebrate Thanksgiving, we pause to praise God for His faithfulness, provision, and abundant blessings throughout the year. Every good gift comes from His hand, and we are grateful for His constant care.
This Thanksgiving season, we invited you to prayerfully participate in our special Thanksgiving Offering Goal of $10,000. Our desire is not simply to reach a financial target, but to glorify God through cheerful and sacrificial giving, trusting Him to use these gifts to advance His kingdom and bless others. To date, we have received $7,380.
Thank you for joining us in giving thanks to God through generous hearts and faithful stewardship.
May God bless you, as you continue to support the ministries at Brunswick Street.

18. Volunteering Opportunities
A. Sunday Streets Muffin Ministry: December 13
On behalf of our brothers and sisters who make a weekly evening trek around the city to visit those sleeping rough, and the members of your Social Action Team, thank you ‘muffin makers’ for your faithfulness serving in this way. Your sweet generosity is more than just baked goods; it’s an expression of care and hope in Jesus’ name.
Our Street Ministry team need muffins as soon as December 13 for our Sunday night outreach program. As we prepare for the busy summer months, we aim to have 4 dozen muffins each week to ensure we’re well-stocked and ready to bless those we serve. If you are able to help in this way, please place 12 muffins, individually wrapped, in a large zipper locked bag, and label the bag “Street Ministry”. Don’t forget to include your name and the delivery date for which you signed up. You can place the labeled muffins in the upright freezer in the main kitchen.
Please click the link below or call the church office (506-458-8348) and our admin team will be pleased to do the online registration for you. Jesus spoke of offering cups of cold water in his name. Muffins, we believe, offer the same opportunity to bless others for Him.
B. Security Volunteers Needed
We’re seeking dedicated volunteers to help keep our church safe and welcoming on weekday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Your presence makes a real difference — creating a warm, secure space where everyone feels at home. If you’re ready to step up and be part of this vital ministry, reach out to Mike Bech or call the church office at 506-458-8348 to learn more or sign up.
C. Third Sunday Supper: 2027 Monthly Schedule!
On the Third Sunday of each month, we host a supper for those in need in our community. We are now looking to fill our 2027 monthly calendar with folks willing to prepare a meal for our Third Sunday Supper (TSS) guests. At this time we only have January filled. All the other months are available, and we are anxious to fill the first few months, to get us going. We'd appreciate if you would prayerfully consider helping out with this ministry that the Lord has truly blessed for so many years.
Please contact Judy Thompson, TSS Meal Coordinator, at 506-238-9903 or judypaul1088@gmail.com. If you wish to serve in another way, just come along on the third Sunday of each month at 4:00pm. Thank you and God Bless You!

During the Contemporary Service, our team for Children’s ministries are as follows:
Nursery – Elizabeth Wilson, Sophy Shi
Preschool – Sarah Duguid, Laiza Cruz
KidzTown – Aaron MacLaggan, Sam Essel
Dr. Keith Bodner will be preaching in both services. He will be focusing on “Acts 17”. Of his sermon he says: “Our series in the central section of the Book of Acts—as we’re exploring the theme of navigating change in this fifth book of the New Testament—continues with the journey of Paul, Silas, and Timothy in the region of Macedonia. Last time we studied the events in Philippi that are narrated in Acts 16. The next stop after Philippi is the Greek city of Thessalonica in chapter 17, and here is where we pick up the story. Since there is a Jewish presence in this city, Paul enters the synagogue to share the message about the Messiah. But a rabid crowd forces Paul’s departure after a mere three weeks, so surely the small group of believers will not last. And yet they do, and through this incredible story we—those of us in this current century and uncertain cultural moment—are inspired to not just survive, but thrive! By refusing to compare themselves, persevering through adversity, looking outward, and working as a team, that small group in Thessalonica becomes a powerful template for churches in a host of different circumstances as they defy the odds and flourish in their faith.”
We look forward to seeing you for a hope-filled Sunday as we worship together. Whether in-person or online, be sure to join us this Sunday morning for our Traditional Service at 9:30 am or our Contemporary Service at 11:15 am.
