Our Mission

Experience the Love of Jesus. Live it Out Everywhere.

On July 1st, we give thanks to God for the gift of our beautiful country and the many blessings we enjoy as a nation. Canada is a land of diversity, kindness, and hope, and we are grateful for the freedom to gather, to worship, and to serve one another in love.

As we celebrate, may we remember that we are called to be a light in our communities, showing compassion, extending grace, and working for peace and justice for all. Let us continue to pray for our leaders, our neighbors, and our nation, that God’s wisdom and love would guide us in all things.

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” Psalm 33:12

Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful and safe Canada Day filled with gratitude, community, and God’s peace.

1. Happy Canada Day!

On June 28, we will celebrate our final Contemporary Service in the gym. This summer, throughout July and August, we will be having one service, all together, in the sanctuary at 10:30 am on Sunday mornings.

We will begin our new stacked services pilot on Sunday, September 6. For further information on this plan, please see Article 19, Service Structure Pilot Update, for the latest information presented by our Board of Deacons at our Spring Business Meeting on June 10.

2. Shared Summer Services: Beginning July 5

3. Final Contemporary Service in the Gym with Potluck to Follow: June 28

You’re warmly invited to join us for our final Contemporary Worship Service in the gym on Sunday, June 28! This special morning will be a meaningful time to look back on the journey that has brought us here and to celebrate all that God has done in and through this service.

After the service, we’ll continue the celebration with a potluck gathering in the gym, along with an opportunity for anyone who would like to share a short one- to two-minute testimony of how God has worked in your life through this ministry.

If you’d like to contribute to the potluck, please bring soup, salad, sandwiches, or dessert to share. We’ll have a quick transition time as we move from the worship setup to the meal, so we appreciate everyone’s help and flexibility.

We hope you can join us for this joyful and meaningful time together!

On Sunday, June 21st, we joyfully dedicated Adina, celebrating her as a precious gift from God and a blessing to all who love her. We committed to supporting her, loving her, and helping her grow into all she is meant to be. Her life is a beautiful reminder of God’s goodness and faithfulness.

In Psalm 127:3, the Bible tells us, “Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from Him.” Adina is truly such a gift, entrusted to her family with love and purpose.

As she grows, may she be surrounded by guidance, faith, and wisdom. We pray that her life will be filled with joy, strength, and God’s continued blessings.

Welcome, Adina. You are deeply loved and wonderfully given.

4. Dedication of Adina!

7. Green Hill Lake Camp: Share-A-Wage

Dear friends & family,

Hello guys! I’m writing today to tell you about my upcoming summer ministry at Green Hill Lake Camp.

This is my third summer working at camp, and my first summer as a senior cabin leader. In this position, my job is to teach the kids at camp about God and also having as much fun as possible in the meanwhile with the campers.

Christian camping ministries have many costs and so the camps are not able to pay their staff at a rate comparable to a regular summer job. Each staff member is given the opportunity to help raise support in two ways (financially and prayerfully) for the staff team through the share-a-wage program. Below you will find a link to a cover letter from the camp outlining ways to give. Please remember that this is a tax-deductible donation, and a receipt will be sent to your home. Thank you for your consideration in this. Any amount will be greatly appreciated by the camp and will go a long way. Further, I’m asking that you will keep me and the staff team in your prayers this summer as it is very encouraging knowing that you have support from others through prayer.

I am so excited for what God has in store for me this summer. Thank you for all your support.

Yours in Christ,

Miles Culberson

The Millette Family are serving with SIM Canda/Sports Friends and are equipping churches for Sports Ministry. Please keep Charles, Sarah, Lucie, Victoria, and Joseph in your prayers as they navigate this season.

Their prayer requests are as follows:

  • Praise God with us for Victoria's baptism and for Lucie's desire to be baptized as well.

  • Discernment for Charles who ministers to many churches across Canada.

To donate to their efforts, please mark your offering “Millette Missions”.

9. New Life Ministry and GHLC Sponsorships

Thank you so much for supporting this opportunity for children to attend camp “where Christ is made known”.

We have exceeded our goal! To date, we have received $5,150 toward camp sponsorship. All donations in excess will go directly to support GHLC general fund.

Our New Life ladies and other church ministries have six children that would love to go to Green Hill Lake Camp this summer. The cost to send six children to camp, including tuck shop and a t-shirt, is almost $5,000.00.

10. BSBC Summer Soccer Ministry

The grass is green, the World Cup of soccer is here, and most importantly, young people and their parents will be out and about playing soccer at Wilmot Park and Morrell Park! Let’s join them!

We offer two weekly youth soccer programs. The group at Wilmot Park is open to boys and girls ages 6 to 8. The group at the soccer field at Morrell Park on Waterloo Row is open to boys and girls ages 11 to 13.

Sessions are held every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at both locations. Whether they have played soccer before or are trying it for the first time, they are welcome to take part. Players should come dressed in athletic clothing with running shoes or soccer cleats and bring a water bottle. For more information, please contact Coach Charles at charles.globetrotter@gmail.com or 581‑232‑4284.

11. Social Action Team (SAT) Refugee Family: Settling In

Our Syrian refugee family is settling into life in Fredericton. There are lots of adjustments to be made and plenty of paperwork to be completed when settling into a new country, but we are slowly making our way through the lists with them as they settle into their new home. We will space out our newsletter updates accordingly moving forward and provide approximately monthly updates rather than weekly updates.

Thank you to the volunteers and donors who have put huge efforts into preparing for their arrival and helping with initial settlement tasks over the past couple of weeks. We will reach out with other opportunities to get involved as we figure out any additional needs as they settle into life here. Feel free to reach out to Martina if there is a way that you would like to connect with them and we will see what we can arrange.

We are thankful to share that, to date (up to June 21st in person offering and up to June 15th online giving), the refugee fund has a balance of $48,845. Thank-you! We are deeply grateful for this support. Please note that we are reporting the total numbers including money that has been disbursed for their support since their arrival so that it is easier for everyone to compare and understand. The estimated costs to support this family for our one year commitment are $52,300. We still need to raise about $3,500 before the end of our one year commitment. Thanks to you, our church family, we are making excellent progress at meeting our goal. We have enough to cover their start up costs and the first eleven months of support, but the refugee fund needs your financial support to be able to cover the last month of their first year here. Please note that any funds in excess of this family's needs would go to future refugee sponsorship initiated and voted on by BSBC, the general refugee fund is not "attached" to any particular refugee sponsored by our church, which is why we call it the refugee fund rather than giving to a particular family or person. To donate, simply mark your giving with "refugee fund".

If you have any questions about this sponsorship, please feel free to contact Martina Verboom at sk8martina@gmail.com.

16. Volunteering Opportunities

A. Sunday Streets Muffin Ministry: July 26

On behalf of our brothers and sisters who make a weekly evening trek around the city to visit those sleeping rough, and the members of your Social Action Team, thank you ‘muffin makers’ for your faithfulness serving in this way. Your sweet generosity is more than just baked goods; it’s an expression of care and hope in Jesus’ name.

Our Street Ministry team need muffins as soon as July 26 for our Sunday night outreach program. As we prepare for the busy summer months, we aim to have 4 dozen muffins each week to ensure we’re well-stocked and ready to bless those we serve. If you are able to help in this way, please place 12 muffins, individually wrapped, in a large zipper locked bag, and label the bag “Street Ministry”. Don’t forget to include your name and the delivery date for which you signed up. You can place the labeled muffins in the upright freezer in the main kitchen.

Please click the link below or call the church office (506-458-8348) and our admin team will be pleased to do the online registration for you. Jesus spoke of offering cups of cold water in his name. Muffins, we believe, offer the same opportunity to bless others for Him.

B. Security Volunteers Needed

We’re seeking dedicated volunteers to help keep our church safe and welcoming on weekday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Your presence makes a real difference — creating a warm, secure space where everyone feels at home. If you’re ready to step up and be part of this vital ministry, reach out to Mike Bech or call the church office at 506-458-8348 to learn more or sign up.

C. Third Sunday Supper: Thank you!

All the months have been filled with volunteers willing to prepare a meal for our Third Sunday Supper guests! If you still wish to volunteer, we are always looking for extra hands at any of our Third Sunday Suppers – simply join us! Thank you to all who have volunteered to help keep this important ministry going. You are appreciated more than you know!

20. This Sunday’s Worship Gatherings | June 28

In the sanctuary, the worship team will be led by Gloria Tranquilla with special music from Elaine Durling and Laura McGuire. In the gym, the worship team will be led by Jon Wilton and Julianne Moore.

Dr. Keith Bodner will be preaching in the sanctuary. Of his sermon, he says; “An underrated section of Matthew’s Gospel occurs in chapter 9, not long after Jesus calls a tax collector to follow him and then has a series of encounters about the reality of the Kingdom of God. The particular episode we are interested in this weekend begins with a question about fasting, as John’s disciples are concerned that the followers of Jesus don’t have enough of the outward signs of holiness. This conversation leads Jesus to comment on the nature of “patchwork religion”—a situation is far more common in today’s church than we might prefer—powerfully illustrated with two successive interruptions of death and disease. This section of Matthew 9 emphasizes that the good news of the gospel is not an “add on” or quick fix solution to human problems, but an absolute transformation because of the presence of Jesus in our lives.”

Rev. Ross Watters will be preaching in the gym. Of his sermon, he says; “This week in the Sanctuary we will be exploring the truth that sacrifice doesn't mean abandoning love - it means ordering love rightly. Looking at Jesus call to the disciples, we will consider the relational cost of following Jesus and the greater relationships, purpose, and depth of love found in return. Through the examples of the disciples and ultimately Jesus Himself at the cross, we will be reminded that when Jesus is number one in our lives, every other relationship finds its proper place. True discipleship calls us to surrender, but not to love less. Instead, it teaches us how to love God first, and as a result, others more faithfully.”

Whether in-person or online, be sure to join us this Sunday morning at 10:30 am as we worship together.

21. Welcome, Reverend Mark Archibald!

We are delighted to announce the Rev. Mark Archibald has accepted the position of Associate Pastor for Outreach and Connection at BSBC! Mark, his wife Valerie, and his son Kayde, will join us at the end of August.

Congratulations Rev. Mark!

22. Service Structure Pilot Update

Please find below the information that was shared at the Spring Business Meeting on June 10, 2026. Scott Myles, Chair of the Board of Deacons, shared some slides during his presentation on the Sunday Service Transition Plan.

SLIDE 1

Sunday Service Transition Plan: A guiding framework for our Fall pilot project
Brunswick Street Baptist Church | Congregational Meeting | June 10
Purpose: share the structure, the heart behind the change, and how we will learn together during the pilot.

SLIDE 2 – The Why

Why We Are Making This Transition: The change is rooted in growth, stewardship, and mission.
- Accommodate growth: Make room for our church body while reducing pressure on a single Sunday morning service.
- Steward our sanctuary: Use our historic sanctuary well while giving each worship expression appropriate space and focus.
- Reach across generations: Protect both traditional and contemporary worship so each can thrive.
- Guiding principle: one church family, two worship expressions, one shared mission. Experience the Love of Jesus. Live it Out Everywhere.

SLIDE 3 – Schedule

The New Sunday Morning Schedule: A sequential model with an intentional shared connection hour at the center.
9:30 Traditional Service: Sanctuary – choir, soloists, liturgical elements
10:30 Shared Connection Time: 45 minutes – coffee, fellowship, library, transitions
11:15 Contemporary Service: Sanctuary – full band, modern worship elements.
The 45-minute break is not “dead space” – it is the centerpiece for connection and unity.

SLIDE 4 – Core Values

Our Core Values for the Pilot: The schedule matters, but the culture we build matters even more.
- Unity: 'We' over 'Us vs. Them' – The connection hour is designed to keep us together as one church family across worship styles and generations.
- Grace-filled pilot mindset – We will begin, observe, learn, and adjust. We do not expect every operational detail to be perfect on day one.
- Protecting volunteers – We will not rely on the same few people to do double the work. Teams should generally serve within their preferred service time.
Measure success not only by logistics, but by whether people feel welcomed, connected, and called together.

SLIDE 5 – Connection

Connection Time: The Heart of the Morning – A planned ministry hour for hospitality, prayer, and cross-generational connection.
45 minutes: 10:30 to 11:15 am – A shared center point where traditional attendees can stay, contemporary attendees can arrive early, and families can transition smoothly. Hospitality makes the model work.
- Round tables and comfortable seating in the gym

- Coffee, refreshments, and a dedicated Hospitality Team

- Library access coordinated with children’s ministry flow

- Possible overflow or family-friendly viewing space

- Sunday School

- Baptisms

- Brunch instead of BBQ

- Other Events

SLIDE 6 – Worship

Supporting Both Worship Expressions

- Traditional Service at 9:30 am: Choir, soloists, handbells, liturgical elements and our rich musical heritage in the sanctuary

- Contemporary Service at 11:15 am: Modern worship architecture, full band instrumentation, and contemporary creative elements.

- Permanent sanctuary setup: Contemporary instruments remain positioned in a low-profile, safe, visually appropriate way to reduce Sunday setup strain.

- Operation boundaries:

- Traditional service must conclude by 10:30 am

- Contemporary service should conclude by 12:30 pm

- Clear stage plot and cable safety are essential

- Ensembles like Kids Sing may need restructured practice schedules

SLIDE 7 – Volunteers

Protecting and Equipping Volunteers: A sustainable Sunday model depends on clear roles and healthy rotations.

Volunteer commitments

- Serve within preferred service time when possible

- Cross-service support reserved for emergencies

- Simplify roles so new volunteers can be trained

- Use Planning Center to reduce Friday/Sunday stress

AV/IT production: separate the load

- Slides: lyrics & visuals

- Camera: livestream view

- Sanctuary sound: in-room mix

- Livestream audio: online mix

SLIDE 8 – Families

Children’s Ministry and Family Flow: The experience of young families will be a key indicator of pilot success.

Pragmatic care approach: Leadership will evaluate childcare needs for the 9:30 am service over time without over-engineering an unsustainable model.

Clear transitions: Parents, teachers, and directors will need clear pick-up/drop-off paths and clock-watching protocols during the 45-minute break.

Pastoral care for little ones: Because the second service ends at 12:30 pm, simple healthy snacks in KidzTown can help support lunch and nap rhythms.

Design question for the pilot: Are families able to worship, connect, and move through the morning with clarity and ease?

SLIDE 9 – Operations

Operational Support: Making Sundays Work: Behind-the-scenes systems must adapt so the morning remains welcoming and secure.

Tellers and offerings: Current immediate counting after the final service is not workable for traditional-service tellers. Leadership should choose a secure model, with Monday morning counting strongly recommended to reduce Sunday stress.

Ushers and sanctuary flow: Each service needs a minimum usher team. The 10:30 am transition requires gracious clearing, wayfinding, bulletins, and seating preparation.

Secure planning: A secure alternate counting space may be needed if the current teller room is used for Sunday School. The gym should be intentionally arranged so it feels welcoming, not empty.

SLIDE 10 – Evaluation

How Will We Evaluate the Pilot: A defined pilot protects trust and gives us room to learn.
4–6 months – recommended pilot window with a predetermined evaluation date. Not open-ended. Not permanent without learning.

Key measures to monitor

- Volunteer health – sign-ups, absences, rotation frequency

- Attendance balance – sanctuary density and healthy participation

- Children’s ministry – teacher-to-child ratios and room usage

- Congregational feedback – monthly stakeholder check-ins plus digital and paper surveys

SLIDE 11 – Next Steps

Timeline and Next Steps: What happens between this meeting and the Fall launch?
June 10: Congregational business meeting and shared discussion

Summer: Finalize ministry team plans, volunteer structures, room use, and communications. Combined services.

Fall (*Sept 6): Launch sequential service model as a pilot project
Monthly: Review stakeholder feedback and operational data

4 – 6 months: Evaluate, adjust, and recommend longer-term direction.

Immediate priorities: communicate clearly, recruit sustainably, prepare rooms and workflows, and keep listening.

SLIDE 12

What We Are Asking of the Church Family
Pray – for unity, wisdom, and a spirit of hospitality

Participate – in the connection time and help it become a true ministry space

Serve – in sustainable ways that match your gifts and availability

Give Feedback – with grace as we learn and adjust during the pilot
One church family. Two worship expressions. One mission.

Thank you.
