2. Celebration Sunday Recap: June 7

On Sunday, June 7, our church family gathered for a joyful Celebration Sunday at Brunswick Street Baptist Church. We celebrated our graduates, acknowledging their hard work, their faith, and the exciting steps ahead of them. We rejoiced with those who publicly declared their commitment to Christ through baptism. After the service, our congregation enjoyed a wonderful time of fellowship at our church BBQ, sharing food, laughter, and community. It was a beautiful day of gratitude, celebration, and God’s goodness at work among us.

6. Muffin Ministry: July 19

The Sunday Streets Muffin Ministry team need some muffins and muffin makers for their Sunday evening trek around the city to visit our unhoused population. We would like to get some muffins stocked in our freezers to cover the summer months. Spring is here...so summer is sure to follow! Our New Life ladies and other church ministries have six children that would love to go to Green Hill Lake Camp this summer. The cost to send six children to camp, including tuck shop and a t-shirt, is almost $5,000.00. 10. BSBC Soccer Ministry 2026

right around the corner, and most importantly, young people and their parents will be out and about playing soccer at Wilmot Park and Morrell Park! Let’s join them!

Starting today, June 10, we offer two weekly youth soccer programs. The group at Wilmot Park is open to boys and girls ages 6 to 8. The group at the soccer field at Morrell Park on Waterloo Row is open to boys and girls ages 11 to 13.

Sessions will be taking place every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at both locations. Whether they have played soccer before or are trying it for the first time, they are welcome to take part. Players should come dressed in athletic clothing with running shoes or soccer cleats and bring a water bottle. 12. Oasis: August 6 to 8

Oasis is the annual gathering of the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada (CBAC), a family of churches spread all over Atlantic Canada. CBAC churches send pastors and delegates to Oasis.

Each August, we gather to deepen relationships, build community, learn tools for thriving in ministry, worship together, make decisions around budgets, and vision for the future. OASIS is also a time to celebrate God’s faithfulness and our shared mission. Join us for the 180th Annual gathering this August. OASIS will be held August 6-8, 2026 on the Acadia University campus in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.

To be a delegate for BSBC, you must be a member of BSBC. Based on our membership, we can send 10 delegates. At present, we have 7 members registered as OASIS delegates. If you are not a member, you can start the process for membership or you can attend OASIS as a guest. Guests can participate in everything but cannot vote on business. Are you interested in being one of our delegates to OASIS? We are able to provide a stipend of $200 to cover your registration and help with expenses. 13. Social Action Team (SAT) Refugee Family Weekly Update: Arriving June 12

The week is finally here! Our Syrian refugee family will be arriving this Friday evening at the Fredericton bus station and you are welcome to join the group to meet them!

They will be arriving in Halifax on June 11th and then traveling by bus to Fredericton on June 12th. We are looking forward to greeting them at the bus station here in Fredericton around 6:30 PM on June 12th. Since they are living in Lebanon and in the midst of the Middle East conflicts, their travel could be delayed, but please join us in praying for their safe arrival here to Fredericton later this week.

Please see the separate news article for pantry items to start them with full cupboards and some fresh food for the fridge next week too.
Thank you to the volunteers who have put huge efforts into preparing their rental house for their arrival! The family had an opportunity to have a Facetime tour of the house with the brother here in Fredericton who helped on moving day and they were very excited about their new home.
We are thankful to share that, to date (up to June 7th in person offering and up to May 31st online giving), the refugee fund has a balance of $45,440. Thank-you! We are deeply grateful for this support. The estimated costs to support this family for our one year commitment are $52,300. We still need to raise about $7,000 before the end of our one year commitment. Thanks to you, our church family, we are making excellent progress at meeting our goal. We have enough to cover their start up costs and close to the first ten months of support, but the refugee fund needs your financial support to be able to cover the last part of their first year here. Please note that any funds in excess of this family's needs would go to future refugee sponsorship initiated and voted on by BSBC, the general refugee fund is not "attached" to any particular refugee sponsored by our church, which is why we call it the refugee fund rather than giving to a particular family or person. To donate, simply mark your giving with "refugee fund".

16. NextGen Ministry (Children & Youth)

Final Sunday School | Sunday June 7 | 9:30 to 10:15 am

Our final Sunday School classes for this semester will be on June 7. Classes will resume in September. Our Sunday School classes are open from 9:30 to 10:15 am. This is an intentional time for all those from pre-kindergarten to 18 years old to grow deeper in their understanding of the Bible. At the same time, we offer Coffee Time in the Connections Centre for adults, as well as the Together in Prayer group in the family room.

KidzTown and Preschool | Sundays | 10:45 to 11:30 am‍ ‍

Kids! Join us Sunday morning in the worship services. Be sure to sign in before the service starts. At 10:45 am, our KidzTown and Preschool leaders will collect children from the gym, stop at the Connections Centre to collect children from the sanctuary and take them to their designated program areas. Preschool children will be taken to the nursery and children from Kindergarten to Grade 5 will be taken to the second floor for KidzTown Ministries during the church service (10:45 to 11:30 am). Little Lambs Play Group | Wednesday | 10:00 am

Parents, caregivers, and little ones are invited to join us Wednesday mornings for a relaxed time of play and connection. Join this this Thursday for our final Youth Thursday of the school year. We will be taking a two-week break before starting our Summer Youth Group on July 2. This Thursday, we will be gathering together at the church, for supper, Bible Study and Youth Group. All are welcome to join!

For our final Youth Thursday, we will be having dinner at 5:00 pm, Bible study at 5:35 pm and youth group from 6:15 to 8:00 pm, which starts with an ice cream bar to start and then breaking into teams for an Amazing Race around the church.

19. This Sunday’s Worship Gatherings | June 14

In the sanctuary, the worship team will be led by Gloria Tranquilla and David Steeves with special music from Eden Watters and Scott & Tara Kennedy. In the gym, the worship team will be led by Allie Dunfield.

Dr. Keith Bodner will be preaching in the sanctuary. Of his sermon, he says; “It is hard to avoid the news these days, and there is no shortage of negative stories that circulate through various outlets. It might be heartening to know that ancient Israel was hardly different, with no shortage of dubious characters and sensational headlines. This morning we will look at an unprecedented event during the career of King Jehoram in 2 Chronicles 21. His reign is a disaster—and he is the first king in the line of David to be given a wholly negative verdict—but something absolutely incredible happens during his kingship. Of course, there are lots of miracles in the Bible, ranging from a talking donkey to the sun standing still in the days of Joshua, and yet what happens to Jehoram in 2 Chronicles is positively mind-boggling, and as we’ll see, always us to consider afresh the power of God’s word to shift and transform our lives through an infusion of divine grace.”

Reverend Ross Watters will be preaching in the gym. Of his sermon, he says; “This Sunday we’ll explore the theme ‘Sacrificing Comfort/Ease’ through the story of Daniel and his courageous decision to remain faithful to God in the middle of Babylonian culture. In a world that constantly encourages comfort, convenience, and compromise, Daniel reminds us that true discipleship often requires conviction, sacrifice, and trust in God above personal ease and compromise. Together we’ll consider what it means to choose obedience and how God honors those who stand faithfully for Him even when it is difficult. Join us as we reflect on the challenge and hope of following Jesus wholeheartedly in today’s world.”

20. Service Structure Planning Update

As the Board of Deacons begins stakeholder sessions with groups involved with ministry about changes to the service structure, we will take notes during sessions to be held in April and May. The email address, servicestructurefeedback@bsbc.nb.ca, will also be used to receive feedback. We appreciate and are seeking solution-based feedback about the way forward.

Messages sent to the email address need to identify the name of the individual or individuals. All emails will be acknowledged as received. Emails will be received by the Service Structure Sub-Committee of the Board of Deacons (Peter Cook, Andrew Culberson, Liz Smith, and Stephen VanSlyke). They will be reviewed identifying themes. The contents of the emails will have identifying information and personal details removed. The analysis will include AI-powered tools to summarize session notes and emails. Emails, without identifying information, and the analysis will be shared with the Board of Deacons.

Hello BSBC Family,

We hope this message finds you well! We want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support and patience as we work to improve how we stay connected as a church community.

We’re excited to share that BSBC is now using a new online congregational directory that we hope will be more user-friendly and accessible for everyone. This updated directory will serve as a combined contact list and include our official list of Members – both Resident and Non-Resident – as well as Adherents and Guests.

To join the directory, each family member must contact Naomi in the church office at Naomi.Phillips@bsbc.nb.ca to receive their welcome email and get started. Worship East (Canada Sings) is hosting a worship concert in Officer's Square on June 13, 2026, from 6 pm - 9 pm. Hope City, Journey Church and other churches are involved with some of the music making. Bring your own chairs. Free will offering is welcome at worship.east@gmail.com
