3. Farewell & Best Wishes to Adam Savard

Story to get here:

Hey, I am Adam, I’ve been attending Brunswick Street since shortly after I was born; with my Mom and Dad, Althea and Daniel Savard and my sister Jessica. BSBC has been my home and family for all my 32 years, from attending youth group to going on mission trips, to leading and serving in multiple ways, this church has been a real source of joy and security in my life and I am thankful to both God and all the people who have helped make that the case!

What I am going to do:

When I was 16, in a time of prayer, God spoke to me about going into ministry in the future and ever since, I have known there was a call on my life to go into ministry. Being completely honest, I have spent many years wrestling with the call, but this year I finally took the step to apply to Acadia Divinity College. I'm grateful to have been accepted into the program and will begin my MDiv studies this fall. I'll be moving to Wolfville on July 31st to get started.

In all that is to come, I would like to request prayer and support in the following areas:

• That the move would go smoothly (I’m taking my cat with me!)

• That I would do well academically

• That I find a community as supportive as BSBC

• That my finances would be provided for

• That I would be protected from the Enemy by keeping to the Faith and the full armor of God (this is especially important to me!)

I want to thank BSBC for all the support, love and care that has been shown over the years. It means more than you know to get the odd message from friends, to see the smiles on your faces on Sunday morning, and it has been an absolute privilege and joy to watch your youth grow up into fine, upstanding, young adults.

Thanks, and every blessing,

Adam Savard

We will have a commissioning prayer time for Adam in both services this Sunday morning.

4. Combined Service: August 3

On August 3, we will be hosting a Combined Worship Service. On the Sunday of the New Brunswick Day long weekend, both of our contemporary and traditional congregations will be joining voices to worship the risen Lord with traditional worship music. We invite you to join us in the sanctuary as we celebrate the Lord’s table. The service will start at 10:30 am. We hope to see you there!

5. Security Shift Coverage

Hi everyone,

We’re so grateful for the time and care you give to keeping our church a safe and welcoming place. Your dedication doesn’t go unnoticed—thank you!

We’ve had a few instances where scheduled security shifts were missed or last-minute coverage had to be arranged. We completely understand that life happens and schedules can change unexpectedly.

If you know you won’t be able to make your shift, we kindly ask that you try to find a replacement and let Dan Lutes (cylutes@nbnet.nb.ca) or Dwight Colwell (colwelldwight@gmail.com) know as soon as possible.

If you're unable to arrange coverage on your own, please reach out to Dan or Dwight a few days ahead of time so they can help find someone to fill in.

Thanks again for your continued support—it plays such an important role in making our church a safe and caring environment for all.

Thank you,

Dan Lutes, Board of Management and Dwight Colwell, Security Team

7. Muffin Ministry: Aug 24

On behalf of our brothers and sisters who make a weekly evening trek around the city to visit those sleeping rough, and the members of your Social Action Team, thank you ‘muffin makers’ for your faithfulness serving in this way. Your sweet generosity is more than just baked goods; it’s a tangible expression of care and hope in Jesus’ name.

Our Street Ministry team need muffins as soon as Aug 24 for our Sunday night outreach program. As we prepare for the busy summer months, we’re now aiming to have 4 dozen muffins each week to ensure we’re well-stocked and ready to bless those we serve. If you are able to help in this way, please place 12 muffins, individually wrapped, in a large zipper locked bag, and label the bag “Street Ministry”. Don’t forget to include your name and the delivery date for which you signed up. You can place the labeled muffins in the upright freezer in the main kitchen.

Please click the link below or call the church office (506-458-8348) and our admin team will be pleased to do the online registration for you. Jesus spoke of offering cups of cold water in his name. Muffins, we believe, offer the same opportunity to bless others for Him.

12. Adult Bible Studies

There is so much going on at our Church that sometimes it is hard to keep track! To help ease your calendar preparation, here is a brief list of programs and events that we have on offer:

13. This Sunday’s Worship Gatherings: July 27

In the Sanctuary, the worship team will be led by David Steeves and Gloria Tranquilla. In the Gym, worship will be led by Jon Wilton.

Dr. Keith Bodner will be preaching in the gym. Of his sermon titled Judges 7: “Big Reveal”, he says, “Our short summer series in the book of Judges is poised to continue this week, after an eventful start in chapter 6. As we noted, Judges is located in the time period of Judges after Moses and Joshua, when there are no commanding leaders, and less national accountability. A pattern is evident from the earliest moments of the story, whereby the people abandon God, and a host of problems ensue. A key challenge in the book is the struggle between faithfulness to their covenant relationship with God and being enticed by the world around them. Our main character in this section of Judges is Gideon, who is chosen for an important task despite doubts, questions and a habit of asking for signs: and as we will see, there is a shocking “reveal” about the family of Gideon. This week we continue to probe the life and motives of this character, and we will note some compelling similarities in our discipleship challenges as we seek to be faithful stewards of grace in our nation today.”

Rev. Ross Watters will be preaching in the sanctuary. Of his sermon he says, “Jesus came so that we may have life and have it in abundance! What are the signs of life we should be looking to find in both our personal faith life and church community to know that we are indeed alive spiritually? Join us this Sunday, in the Gym and beyond to start exploring these ‘Signs of Life’ together, starting in John 10: 1 – 21.”

Whether in-person or online, be sure to join us this Sunday morning at 10:30 am.

14. Pastoral Care

Your Deacons want to affirm that BSBC is equipped to provide Pastoral Care. We are grateful for our pastors, Rev.
