In this season of Advent, we invite you to join for an Advent Reflection, Worship, and Prayer time today Wednesday, December 17th from 7:45 till 9:00 pm in the Assembly Area on the 3rd floor.

This is a time to come together and meditatively celebrate our Lord Jesus' first coming, to reflect on God's desire to make our hearts his dwelling place, and to seek His face in this special season.

Please feel free to come and join in, for any part of these 1 hour and 15-minute sessions. All are welcome to attend. For more information, please contact Debbie Kierstead at 506-455-2147 or the church office at 506-458-8348.

4. Service of Comfort and Hope: December 18

As the losses of the past year cast a shadow on your familiar celebrations, I understand how your feelings are different this Christmas. You have deep longings for the ones who are not by your side. This is normal. As we prepare for Christmas, my thoughts and prayers are with you and for your comfort.

To assist you through this time, I invite you to the Service of Comfort and Hope, Thursday, December 18 at 6:30 pm sanctuary, when candles will be lit in memory of loved ones who you long for. A reception time will follow. If you feel this would be helpful for you, mark this date on your calendar and register your intention to attend. This will assist us as we prepare the names for the Memorial Honour Roll.

Remember you are not alone,

Pastor Kevin Culberson

10. Christmas Giving Goal 2025

Dear Church Family,

As we celebrate this season of hope, would you prayerfully consider including a special gift to our church as part of your Christmas giving? Your generosity will help us finish the year in a strong financial position, enabling us to continue being a “Hope-Filled” church, sharing God’s love with our community and beyond.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” – Romans 15:13

Together, we rejoice in the ways God is at work among us and look forward to His continued blessings in 2026 as we pray, “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done.”

How to Give:

  1. Place your gift in the offering boxes located on the welcome tables.

  2. Drop your gift off at the Church Office.

  3. Use the debit machine in the Connections Centre.

  4. Send an e-transfer to giving@bsbc.nb.ca.

To ensure your gift is receipted for 2025, please:

  1. Drop your envelope marked “Christmas Giving Goal” in the offering box during worship on Sunday, Dec. 28.

  2. Bring your gift to the Church Office by noon on Wednesday, Dec. 31.

  3. Send your e-transfer by 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 31.

To date, we’ve received $1,400 toward our Christmas Giving Goal of $9,000, and we’re encouraged to see how God will work through your support in the weeks ahead.

Thank you for partnering with us to sustain and grow the ministry God has entrusted to us in Fredericton and beyond.

11. 2025 Financial Countdown

May God bless you, as you continue to support the ministries at Brunswick Street.

Ken Reimer, Treasurer

12. Starting Local Going Global 2025 Christmas Campaign Update

A huge thank you to our church family for yet again coming through with generous giving to support both our local community through Christmas giving and our global Christmas project!

The Starting Local total to December 14, is $12,065.00. This covers the costs of the gifts for our new Life families who celebrated as a group last week and for a Christmas gift for each of our December Third Sunday Supper guests who enjoyed a Christmas meal this past Sunday evening. Any funds in excess of our costs for these gifts will be divided between our “local” ministries to help cover some of their costs through the year. These include our regular New Life ministry and our BSBC Benevolent fund which ministers to urgent financial needs of many connected to our church.

In addition, $11,690.00 has come in to date for Going Global which will be sent through our national office, Canadian Baptist Ministries, to support ministries in South Sudan.

Thank you to all who have given to our Christmas campaign!

God is so good.

BSBC Social Action Team and Mission Committee

14. A Note of Thanks From Roddy and Doris Thomson and Family

Roddy and Doris Thomson, along with their family, wish to express heartfelt gratitude to everyone who took the time to help celebrate Roddy’s 80th Birthday. It truly was a wonderful afternoon full of overwhelming love, warm wishes, and laughter. We are humbled by the warmth you have shown and grateful for the way you continue to walk beside Roddy and Doris in faith and friendship. Thank you for celebrating not just a milestone birthday, but the journey God has carried Roddy and Doris through. We are deeply thankful to be part of a community that lifts one another up and shares God’s love so generously.

15. Volunteering Opportunities

A. Sunday Streets Muffin Ministry: January 2

On behalf of our brothers and sisters who make a weekly evening trek around the city to visit those sleeping rough, and the members of your Social Action Team, thank you ‘muffin makers’ for your faithfulness serving in this way. Your sweet generosity is more than just baked goods; it’s an expression of care and hope in Jesus’ name.

Our Street Ministry team need muffins as soon as January 2 for our Sunday night outreach program. As we prepare for the busy winter months, we aim to have 4 dozen muffins each week to ensure we’re well-stocked and ready to bless those we serve. If you are able to help in this way, please place 12 muffins, individually wrapped, in a large zipper locked bag, and label the bag “Street Ministry”. You can place the labeled muffins in the upright freezer in the main kitchen. Don’t forget to include your name and the delivery date for which you signed up.

Please click the link below or call the church office (506-458-8348) and our admin team will be pleased to do the online registration for you. Jesus spoke of offering cups of cold water in his name. Muffins, we believe, offer the same opportunity to bless others for Him.

19. This Sunday’s Worship Gatherings: December 21

This Sunday, we celebrate the fourth Sunday in Advent. In the sanctuary, worship will be led by Gloria Tranquilla and David Steeves. In the gym, worship will be led by Julianne Moore and there will be special music from the Gym Christmas Choir.

Pastor Ross Watters will be preaching in both the sanctuary and the gym on “The Promise of the Divine Presence”. Of his sermon he says, “Join us this 4th week of Advent as Pastor Ross engages around the theme of 'The Promise of Divine Presence' in both services this Sunday. We will engage again in Old Testament Scriptures promising the very presence of God, how those prophecies are fulfilled in Jesus, and how in the midst of some of the most extreme of circumstances, God's presence can still be with us and He can still be working out His purposes. Come to be infilled with hope afresh and reminded of the very presence of God with you this Advent.”

Whether in-person or online, be sure to join us this Sunday morning at 10:30 am.

Kevin Culberson, sanctuary Ministry Coordinator and the Baptist Chaplin at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital and Doug McAllister, our Benevolent Coordinator and Senior’s Visitation Pastor. • Contact the church office during office hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4 pm

  • Outside of office hours, please contact a pastor directly

  • We have provided McAdams, Bishops, and York Funeral Homes with the contact information for both Rev. Ross and Rev. Kevin

  • If you are not a member of a bereaved family but know of a death within the BSBC family, please contact the church office to make sure your pastors are aware of the need

Parish Nurses

  • The parish nursing ministry is intended to support and strengthen the spiritual, physical and emotional well-being of individuals, families, and the congregation at BSBC. Roz Thompson and Cheryl Gibson, your parish nurses, collaborate with members of the pastoral team promoting health and faith, to facilitate the healing of the body, mind, and spirit.
